15th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep – WNYC Transmitter Park Cleanup

Saturday, May 2nd at 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Join Friends of WNYC Transmitter Park and Riverkeeper for a cleanup at WNYC Transmitter Park from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm for the 15th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep. This is a rain or shine event.

Volunteers will meet at WNYC Transmitter Park at the terminus of Greenpoint Avenue at the East River. Please meet at the welcome table at the Greenpoint Avenue entrance. There is limited street parking. Nearby garages may be available.

We recommend all Sweep volunteers to bring a hat, sunscreen, a full reusable water bottle, insect repellent, work gloves and hand sanitizer.

Each year on the first Saturday in May, more than 2,000 volunteers come together across hundreds of miles of shoreline in New York City and the Hudson Valley for a day of service for the Hudson River. Volunteers clean up tons of trash, plant trees, and remove invasive plant species.
Over 14 years, Sweep volunteers have completed 1,463 projects and removed 396 tons of debris, including 2,352 tires, and planted or maintained thousands of trees and shrubs. Once-neglected areas have gained year-round stewards, and rivers and creeks are better for it.

Volunteers must register in advance. Have fun and help take care of the river!
