Growing Mushrooms in Your Garden | GreenThumb GrowTogether

Rain date: Sunday, April 24, same time. Tickets will be available until two days before the event. This will allow us time to prepare for the attendees who have registered in advance. Walk-ins and people on the wait list are welcome to attend and observe, but supplies aren’t guaranteed.

In this workshop, participants will learn how to use low cost and low tech methods to easily start growing gourmet mushrooms in indoor and outdoor gardens. We will cover two methods of mushroom cultivation: how to grow oyster mushrooms in bags using straw, coffee grounds, and similar low cost materials; and how to grow wine cap mushrooms in raised garden beds using wood chips.

Participants will leave with a small supply of oyster mushroom spawn to start their own growing projects, while supplies last.

Facilitated by Erinn White, NYC Parks GreenThumb. Erinn is an urban grower, educator, and community organizer. They currently work as an outreach coordinator for NYC Parks GreenThumb.
