Here at GoGreenBK, we collect and disseminate all things eco-friendly in the Greenpoint/North Williamsburg area. We aim to be a beacon of volunteering and a hub of eco initiatives. From open space development to air/water quality, charity donations to local businesses, we are here to spread the news and calls to action that our communities need!
We encourage all to submit events to our website calendar so that we can grow stronger as a green community! Our efforts would mean nothing without the support of our neighborhood members. We look to invite people to participate in all things sustainability and bettering Brooklyn for our future generations.

Greencycle Swap: Spring Cleaning

This seasonal recycling event has been taking place since 2008 with no end in sight! One person’s trash is truly another’s treasure. Encouraging community bonding, sustainability, and reusing, Greencycle Swap is a wonderful way to clean out your homes of any unwanted, gently used, and working items. This is a time for the community to come out and exchange and find new lives for unwanted items. We may to limit each participant to taking 1 bag or the amount of bags donated of goods, in the consideration of others. Best news, whatever isn’t taken will be donated to local homeless shelters for our neighbors in need.

Truly encompassing the intersection of eco-initiatives and city living, Smart Cities brings to NYC a 4 day conference connecting technology and urban life. With engaging platforms, inventive speakers, and public events, this conference is for anyone interested in knowing how ideas in the tech industry are revitalizing urban living and creating solutions to many eco-issues that cities face. Taking steps towards creating a more mindful and future-focused world, Smart Cities ‘17 is sponsored by many different businesses and organizations throughout the city. Newtown Creek PD Workshop for Teachers

The first Newtown Creek PD Workshop took place on Tuesday, April 4th at our own local Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Visitors Center. After its success, we’re happy to support the Queens rendition of this Personal Development Seminar. Solar One provides their K-12 Water curriculum and classroom toolkit containing water quality testing supplies. This is a great opportunity to invite eco-awareness into the classrooms of teachers all over the city. In this workshop, Solar One will bring teachers to the East River to demonstrate water quality tests, design projects, and green infrastructure. Participants must register here.
Discovery Hike: Spring Beauties

NYC Wildflower Week takes place May 6th-14th this year. What better way to celebrate than going for a hike? For many of us, hiking means exiting the boroughs, but this meet-up takes place right on Staten Island! This is a wonderful opportunity to get out into the trees and see why wildflower week matters in our city. This is a free hike, but registration is required by calling (718) 351-3450 or emailing naturecenter@sigreenbelt.org.
