By placing objects on special paper and exposing the paper to sunlight\, early photographers created blue images\, called cyanotypes or sun prints. \nMeet at Greenpoint Avenue Entrance to the Park \n(Rain date: Sunday\, June 9\, 2024 ) \nAmy Williams is a photographer and mixed media artist living and working in Greenpoint\, Brooklyn. Trained in traditional photographic methods\, Williams continues to embrace these techniques despite the digital revolution of the photography world. Her photographs have been featured in the French art magazine Frog\, as well as the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. Artist and Urban Naturalist\, Ken Chaya will present on-site talk in WNYC Transmitter Park that will be preceded with an information zoom talk. Join us for both or select one or the other! \nPart 2 onsite in WNYC Transmitter Park focuses on a more local examination of the flora and fauna found in the park. Don’t forget your binoculars if you have them\, although not mandatory. Magnifying glasses will be available for insect inspection. \nREGISTER below. \nKen Chaya is an New York City based artist and urban naturalist. He designed Central Park Entire\, the illustrated map and app documenting the park’s magnificent landscape and nearly twenty thousand individual trees found there. Ken teaches nature courses at the New York Botanical Garden\, where he assisted in the creation of the Urban Naturalist Certificate degree program. He is a section leader for the annual Central Park Christmas Bird Count for NYC Audubon. Small sitting pads will be provided for the short meditation\, but you are welcome to bring a larger blanket or towel if you prefer. Portable seats and wheelchairs are welcome.
