Please come prepared to take notes\, and get your hands in the soil\, as Rosemarie Miner\, founding Principal for Our Temenos\, leads us through the gardens pointing out some of our most common soil issues. \nMeet at Greenpoint Avenue Entrance to the Park \nRegistration required.  \n \nRosemarie Miner  is a social ecologist\, focused on blending the boundaries between human and non-human communities. As an artistic praxis\, she works with nature to create living murals\, as well as functional ecosystems\, designing with spirits of place and for the generations to come. \nDrawing on her B.S. in Ecology and her history as a community organizer\, Rosemarie works tirelessly to build environmental and social resilience by facilitating ecological intimacy and fostering ecological literacy. boroughs. \n  \nThe Germination Station is sponsored by the Friends of WNYC Transmitter Park. Inspiration for this forum is inspired by the Park’s namesake and historic legacy of public radio broadcasting. By placing objects on special paper and exposing the paper to sunlight\, early photographers created blue images\, called cyanotypes or sun prints. \nMeet at Greenpoint Avenue Entrance to the Park \n(Rain date: Sunday\, June 9\, 2024 ) \nAmy Williams is a photographer and mixed media artist living and working in Greenpoint\, Brooklyn. Trained in traditional photographic methods\, Williams continues to embrace these techniques despite the digital revolution of the photography world. Her photographs have been featured in the French art magazine Frog\, as well as the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. Williams has exhibited extensively and her work is in corporate and private collections in New York\, Washington D.C.\, Seattle\, Paris and Saudi Arabia. \nThe Germination Station is sponsored by the Friends of WNYC Transmitter Park. Inspiration for this forum is inspired by the Park’s namesake and historic legacy of public radio broadcasting. DESCRIPTION:The Friends of WNYC Transmitter Park Present: Programming from the Germination Station \nJoin us for a FREE 2-part Program that focuses on the Wildlife of New York City. Artist and Urban Naturalist\, Ken Chaya will present on-site talk in WNYC Transmitter Park that will be preceded with an information zoom talk. Join us for both or select one or the other! \nPart 2 onsite in WNYC Transmitter Park focuses on a more local examination of the flora and fauna found in the park. Don’t forget your binoculars if you have them\, although not mandatory. Magnifying glasses will be available for insect inspection. \nREGISTER below. \nKen Chaya is an New York City based artist and urban naturalist. He designed Central Park Entire\, the illustrated map and app documenting the park’s magnificent landscape and nearly twenty thousand individual trees found there. Ken teaches nature courses at the New York Botanical Garden\, where he assisted in the creation of the Urban Naturalist Certificate degree program. He is a section leader for the annual Central Park Christmas Bird Count for NYC Audubon. DESCRIPTION:Spend a mid-autumn morning immersing yourself in Nature at WNYC Transmitter Park. \nMindful outdoor guide Cathy Hildenbrand (Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide and Wilderness First Aid Certified) will take you on a slow meditative wander through the garden paths and waterfront inviting participants to slow down\, open up their senses\, and tap into the energy of the season. \nThis program is free- sponsored by the Friends of WNYC Transmitter Park and is our way of saying thank you to all of our volunteers\, supporters and park enthusiasts! \nRegistration required. \nPlease wear comfortable walking shoes and appropriate outerwear. Small sitting pads will be provided for the short meditation\, but you are welcome to bring a larger blanket or towel if you prefer. Portable seats and wheelchairs are welcome. Don’t forget a water bottle.
