DESCRIPTION:Join Molière in the Park in partnership with Prospect Park Alliance and the Brooklyn Public Library for a free staged reading of Le’Asha Julius’ new play The Regulars and Molière’s The Ludicrous Ladies at the Picnic House! Doors open at 6:30 pm and the show starts at 7 pm. Plus snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. \n \nAbout the Play: \n“Pairing The Regulars\, a short tragedy in verse by rapper\, actor\, and playwright Le’Asha Julius with The Ludicrous Ladies\, a one act comedy in prose by Molière might appear at first as an exercise in contrast. New versus old\, serious versus farcical\, political versus domestic… but in content and in form the plays\, of course\, are neither fully one nor the other. More importantly\, despite the time and space that separates their authors\, both plays center two impassioned women with complex desires. Desires they fight for\, and that may or may not be born exclusively out of the limitations imposed on them by their place in the world. Will this pairing open up an angle of reflection on women’s struggles and how they’ve evolved or persisted? DESCRIPTION:Join Prospect Park Alliance\, the Eenda-Lunaapeewahkiing Collective and the American Indian Community House on Saturday\, December 7 and Sunday\, December 8 for a curated weekend of Lenape and other Indigenous performances and craft vendors. Experience Indigenous music\, dance\, food and crafts on the ancestral homelands of the Lenape peoples. \nHosting an Art and Craft fair in Prospect Park offers Lenape and other Indigenous artists and artisans from across the region an opportunity to share their cultures with Brooklynites of all backgrounds today. The Red Blanket Singers will perform songs\, dances\, and drumming at 1 pm and 3 pm each day. Enjoy corn husk making workshops\, Indigenous food vendors including the award-winning Sly Fox Den and over a dozen Indigenous art and crafts vendors. \nThis event is funded in part through the American Indian Community House and the Speaker’s Initiative of New York City Council Speaker Adrienne E. Adams and is part of Prospect Park Alliance’s ReImagine Lefferts Initiative. \nParticipating vendors include Turtle Soul Native Arts and Gifts by Leslie Faith Stonefish\, Denise Ashton-Dunkley\, Rudy Lazzaro Designs\, General & Ute Grant’s Traditional Hands\, Schenandoah Deerskin Designz\, Blue Turquoise Rose Trading Post\, Turtle 2 Turtle and more.
