SUMMARY:Community Garden Volunteer Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Join Jerry and the Senior Gents of East New York and NYC Parks GreenThumb for a hands-on volunteer day cleaning up the garden! You can help with basic tasks like collecting debris\, removing weeds\, and reorganizing garden furniture. This is a great opportunity for new and experienced gardeners looking to get involved in community gardening. \nWe’ll provide all the tools\, training\, and guidance to have a productive and safe volunteer day! Please wear closed work shoes and weather-appropriate clothing and bring water and snacks. Note some tasks will involve lifting heavy materials and extended periods of bending\, squatting\, and moving. \nThis event will be rescheduled to Sunday\, August 30 if inclement weather is in the forecast. \nFor information about group volunteering\, please contact the GreenThumb Volunteer Program at gt.volunteer@parks.nyc.gov. \nThis event is co-hosted by NYC Parks GreenThumb. We are proud to be the nation’s largest urban community gardening program\, sustaining over 550 gardens throughout New York City. GreenThumb community gardens are organized\, led\, and cared for by dedicated volunteer gardeners who critically upkeep them as public green spaces. With GreenThumb’s support\, community gardens are centers of environmental justice\, ensuring that our city is fairer\, safer\, and greener for all. GreenThumb’s events are free and open to the public.
