DESCRIPTION:This program is the perfect introduction to Climate Justice for the very young.  Award-winning NYC Kindie climate-rocker and puppeteer\, Esther Crow\, uses puppets\,  original music\, and environmental storybooks in this fun and interactive program. Puppets like Oliver Owl\, Bernie the Bee\, and Sustainable Sammy teach about the importance of trees to our ecosystems\, how bees (and bats) pollinate many foods we eat\, and how we can protect our oceans from plastics and contamination. Kids and their caregivers will sing and dance while learning about sustainability! With Esther and her puppets\, a daunting subject like climate change is accessible and empowering. \n\nThis program is for children ages birth to 7 and their caregivers. \n\nThis program is part of the 2025 Early Childhood Symposium on Climate Justice in Early Childhood. DESCRIPTION:Ages 5-8 \nJoin the Urban Park Rangers to reveal nature in the city all around you. \nTuesdays April 1\, 8\, 15\, 29 \nAccessibility \n\nWe are a 5-minute walk off the Nassau G stop. Our building entry\, elevator\, and bathroom are all ADA compliant.\nFor this workshop we will be in Eco Lab 1\, this room is brightly lit from a variety of fixtures and natural lighting.  Temperature varies.\nBeing a public space there is often overlapping noise within the building.  This workshop is geared towards kids which might include varying levels of sound depending on excitement or interest of group.  To reduce sensory input feel free to bring your own ear plugs or ask us if you’d like to borrow a sound filtering device.\nGrown-ups are encouraged to stay in the space to provide additional support to their child.  This may include help with motor skills or emotional support.

He has worked for several name artists as fabricator\, assistant\, for Mathew Barney\, Red Grooms\, Tom Otterness among others. His work for the Wildlife Conservation Society as an exhibit specialist has had a lasting impact on the way that his work is constructed as well as how industrial art practices impact the environment. His work is iterative nature with an emphasis on sustainability. He is an interdisciplinary artist\, molding\, casting\, painting combining and overlapping medium’s themes and mediums. His most recent work is writing\, he is focusing on nonlinear poetry that is beat like and nostalgic. Work in progress is a romance story of a bee and a buttercup. \nJim Osman was born in New York City. He received a BA & MFA from Queens College. He has had solo exhibitions at McKenzie Fine Art\, Robichon Gallery\, Lesley Heller Workspace\, Long Island University and Dartmouth College. His work has been included in group shows at the Brooklyn Museum\, Equity Gallery and University of Texas at San Antonio.  He has received grants from the Brooklyn Arts Council\, Parsons School of Design and a NYFA Artist Fellowship in Craft/Sculpture. He became a member of the National Academy in 2019.Mr. Osman taught courses in three-dimensional design and sculpture at Parsons School of Design for 22 years. He lives and works in Brooklyn\, New York.

DESCRIPTION:Join gardening expert and educator Leslie Fiske for four seminars to learn about seeds\, outdoor gardens\, flower gardens\, and container gardens in urban spaces. \nSaturday\, January 4th\, 2025 ~ Seed Starting \nSaturday\, February 22nd\, 2025 – Urban Gardening for Beginners: Learn the basics of starting an outdoor garden regardless of the size and kind of space you have\, the amount of sunlight your space receives\, or your level of gardening knowledge.  \nSaturday March 15th\, 2025 – Container Gardening: Learn the basics of starting and maintaining a container garden in an urban setting including choosing the right container and soil for each variety of plant\, grouping plants together\, watering and fertilizing\, and protecting from changes in weather throughout the year and from small animals found in our area. \nSaturday April 12th\, 2025 – Flower Gardening in Small Spaces: Learn the basics of creating a flower garden in a small space by matching the varieties of plants to the season\, lighting conditions\, and kind of outdoor space you have. Seed starting versus buying transplants and the benefits of annuals versus perennials will also be discussed.  \n  \nThis program is for adults and and young adults 14+.Attendance is first come first serve.

SUMMARY:Fiber Arts and Sewing Circle
DESCRIPTION:Join the Greenpoint Library for a sewing and fiber arts get together on the second Tuesday of each month. \nFor those with experience\, the library has sewing machines available – sign up for a sewing machine by emailing Molloy Rogers. If you own a sewing machine\, feel free to bring it with you to the library. It is suggested that you have some experience and bring a project to work on\, although skillsharing is encouraged! The library has sewing and cutting tools to share. \nIf sewing is not your specialty\, you may still join and work on a fiber arts craft project of your choice…embroidery\, needlepoint\, etc! \nThe art circle is capped at 15 people\, so please only register if you know you will be able to attend. We look forward to seeing you and your projects!
