SUMMARY:Volunteer Workday: Family Community Garden
DESCRIPTION:GreenThumb community gardens are developed\, led\, and cared for by dedicated volunteers who critically upkeep community gardens as public green spaces. \nFamily Community Garden is a 12\,000+ sq ft food-producing green space supporting families and community members for multiple generations. During this volunteer day\, participants will engage in a hands-on project to plant a vast\, native pollinator garden. This is a great opportunity for those interested in getting involved with a community garden! Bring water\, snacks\, and comfortable\, weather-appropriate clothing. Please note that some activities may involve lifting heavy material and moving\, bending\, and squatting for long periods. \nRegister here! \nGroups of 10 or more can sign up by contacting the volunteer coordinator at Kyleen.Sanchez@parks.nyc.gov. \nThis event is co-hosted by NYC Parks GreenThumb. We are proud to be the nation’s largest urban community gardening program\, sustaining over 550 gardens throughout New York City. With GreenThumb’s support\, community gardens are centers of environmental justice\, ensuring that our city is fairer\, safer\, and greener for all.
