SUMMARY:Volunteer Workday at Citizens for a Better Community Garden
DESCRIPTION:GreenThumb community gardens are developed\, led\, and cared for by dedicated volunteers who critically upkeep community gardens as public green spaces. \nCitizens for a Better Community Garden supports and sustains a diverse group of families and individuals year after year. The garden has over 30 food-producing plots\, a shaded seating area\, and a perennial landscape. During this volunteer day\, participants will engage in meaningful\, hands-on projects\, such as filling new raised beds with soil and disassembling well-used plant structures. This is a great opportunity for those interested in getting involved with a community garden! Bring water\, snacks\, and comfortable\, weather-appropriate clothing. DESCRIPTION:Join NYC Parks GreenThumb and members of Citizens for a Better Community Garden for a volunteer workday! We will rebuild several raised garden beds and perform light garden pruning and weeding. Volunteers will learn basic carpentry and garden maintenance skills! This is a great opportunity to learn about the garden’s history\, programming\, and membership process. \nGloves and tools will be provided.
