SUMMARY:15th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep – Bush Terminal Park
DESCRIPTION:Join Brooklyn Solid Waste Advisory Board and Riverkeeper for a cleanup at Bush Terminal Park from 9:30 am to 11:30 am for the 15th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep. This is a rain or shine event. \nVolunteers will meet at Bush Terminal Park at Marginal Street and 43rd Street\, Brooklyn\, NY. Parking is available near the meeting location. \nWe recommend all volunteers to bring a hat\, sunscreen\, a full reusable water bottle\, insect repellent\, work gloves and hand sanitizer. \nEach year on the first Saturday in May\, more than 2\,000 volunteers come together across hundreds of miles of shoreline in New York City and the Hudson Valley for a day of service for the Hudson River. Volunteers clean up tons of trash\, plant trees\, and remove invasive plant species. \nOver 14 years\, Sweep volunteers have completed 1\,463 projects and removed 396 tons of debris\, including 2\,352 tires\, and planted or maintained thousands of trees and shrubs. Once-neglected areas have gained year-round stewards\, and rivers and creeks are better for it. \nVolunteers must register in advance. Have fun and help take care of the river!

SUMMARY:Bush Terminal Park Wetland Cleanup with the Billion Oyster Project
DESCRIPTION:Volunteer with the Stewardship Team and the Billion Oyster Project to protect wetland areas in Bush Terminal Park! Volunteers will help us remove vegetation in order to help restore the wetland and create a healthier ecosystem as well as get the chance to meet the animals that live in its water. Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes\, long pants\, and clothing that can get dirty. Face masks may be worn at your discretion. This event has been funded in part by NYC Service. \nLocation: Entrance on 1st Ave. & 50th St. in Bush Terminal Park\, Brooklyn.
