DESCRIPTION:Green Team takes place twice a month.   \nGreen Team volunteers support essential horticultural care in Brooklyn Bridge Park\, completing tasks such as weeding\, planting and mulching. This is a great opportunity to learn about gardening\, enjoy nature\, and make a tangible difference in the Park with a group of other volunteers. \nVolunteers of all ages are welcome (under 16’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian) and no volunteer orientation is required. No gardening experience is necessary; we provide all the instructions and tools needed for a rewarding experience! \nAdvance registration is required and spaces are limited. Registration opens the month prior. DESCRIPTION:Start your day with a free relaxing and strengthening yoga session in Brooklyn Bridge Park! This all-level one hour fitness class is open to all ages and abilities\, led by instructors from Abhaya Yoga. This is a part of Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Waterfront Workouts series\, offering free weekly workouts from May through September. This yoga class integrates postures\, breathing exercises\, relaxation and meditation to stretch\, strengthen and condition. No equipment is required but participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mats or towels\, if desired\, to use on the lawn. Advance registration is highly encouraged but walk-ups welcome as capacity allows. Fitness waivers are required by all participants. Each time\, we will meet at a different location in the park to concentrate on different subjects and stretch our skills. Come to one event or come to all. It’s up to you. These are informal sessions with some instruction for those who are new to the practice as well as an open exchange of ideas\, techniques\, and materials. \nThis month we will be meeting at Pier 3 Central Lawn and concentrating on spring trees\, sketching their shapes before they leaf out completely. \nWe encourage you to bring your own\, favorite sketching materials\, but we will provide some for those who don’t have. This program is intended for adults\, although older teens are welcome as well. Advanced registration is encouraged but not required. There will be 25 spots available on a first-come-first-served basis. \nAccessibility note: This workshop will take place on Pier 3\, mostly on flat\, grass-covered ground\, but there are some paved areas. SUMMARY:Art Under the Bridge: Rubber Stamp It! Low-Relief Printing on Fabric
DESCRIPTION:Join educators from Brooklyn Bridge Park in carving stamps and printing with them on a tote bag\, as part of our Art Under the Bridge series. Participants will create a design\, learn how to transfer it to the stamp material\, safely use lino cutters\, and then print using fabric ink. \nThis is a fun art form that you can then easily do at home. All materials will be provided\, but you can also bring your own item to print on as you please. Just make sure that whatever you bring is light-colored as we will be printing with black ink. \nNo previous experience necessary. This workshop is best suited for ages 13 and up. We will be using sharp cutting tools and all participants will need to sign a legal waiver when they arrive. The event is first-come\, first-serve with 25 spots available. Advanced registration is encouraged but not required.
