DESCRIPTION:Kids aged 4-17 can join Brooklyn Bridge Park for free basketball clinics led by KING Hoops\, NYC’s premier youth basketball organization. Participants can learn basketball basics as head coaches lead participants through drills and games. Free clinics are held on Saturday mornings from June through August (excluding holiday weekends). \nThe first hour\, 9-10am\, will be for beginner players who are brand new to the sport. Here we will teach the very basic fundamentals of the game\, the rules of the game\, and getting acclimated to having a ball in each player’s hands. \nThe second hour\, 10-11am\, will be for advanced beginners to intermediate players who have played a little bit more basketball experience. SUMMARY:Outdoor Sketchbooking (Brooklyn Bridge Park)
DESCRIPTION:Do you like to sketchbook? Are you interested in starting? Join Brooklyn Bridge Park educators and other like-minded people in a sketchbooking meet-up. Each time\, we will meet at a different location in the park to concentrate on different subjects and stretch our skills. Come to one event or come to all. It’s up to you. These are informal sessions with some instruction for those who are new to the practice as well as an open exchange of ideas\, techniques\, and materials. \nThis month we will be exploring the John Street section of the park and concentrating on architecture (the NYC skyline\, the Manhattan Bridge\, etc). Meeting point will be at the Manhattan Bridge viewing area\, near the salt marsh. \nRegistration required. We encourage you to bring your own\, favorite sketching materials\, but we will provide some for those who don’t have. This program is intended for adults\, although older teens are welcome as well. Advanced registration is encouraged but not required. There will be 25 spots available on a first-come-first-served basis.

This all-level one hour fitness class is open to all ages and abilities\, led by instructors from Abhaya Yoga. This is a part of Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Waterfront Workouts series\, offering free weekly workouts from May through September. This yoga class integrates postures\, breathing exercises\, relaxation and meditation to stretch\, strengthen and condition. No equipment is required but participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mats or towels\, if desired\, to use on the lawn. Advance registration is highly encouraged but walk-ups welcome as capacity allows. Fitness waivers are required by all participants.
