DESCRIPTION:Join us for a free e-waste and textile collection event in partnership with the Department of Sanitation\, powered by Lower East Side Ecology Center.  Let’s recycle the things we own responsibly! \nE-waste collected at these events include: household and office electronics (computers\, laptops\, keyboards\, printers)\, smaller entertainment electronics (video game consoles\, cell phones\, MP3 players)\, and TVs\, VCRs\, DVDs\, DVRs. \n*Unacceptable items: commercial e-waste\, household appliances\, air conditioners\, batteries\, lightbulbs. \nTextiles collected at these events include: clothing\, shoes\, accessories\, linens\, and all fabric items that are clean\, dry\, and unsoiled. Textile dropoffs must be in bags! \nThe event will take place outside of the library on the Ridge Blvd. side.

DESCRIPTION:Join us in the 2nd floor meeting room to learn about the Jewel of Bay Ridge: the Narrows Botanical Gardens! \nWe will be showing a film about the history of the Narrows Botanical Gardens with a Q&A afterwards. Light refreshments will be served. \nPlease register for the event on the Brooklyn Library webpage. \n***\nNBG was established in 1995 by a small group of local residents who organized a neighborhood clean-up of 4.5 acres of abandoned parkland between the Belt Parkway and Shore Road. Today\, it’s one of NYC’s most enduring volunteer gardening initiatives\, with 17 distinct and beautiful gardens and exhibits. NBG is a grassroots effort by volunteers who take pride in stewarding the land. NBG aims to be a place of peace\, and connection to nature for the public. We also provide sanctuary for native turtles and birds\, and inform the public about gardening for wildlife.
