SUMMARY:Molière's Don Juan (Prospect Park)
DESCRIPTION:Join Molière in the Park for a free staged reading of the biting\, ever-relevant tragicomedy DON JUAN\, complete with live cello music.\n\n\n\nDon Juan\, one of French literary legend Molière‘s most controversial works\, explores themes of class\, sex\, religion\, and freedom\, exposing societal hypocrisy along the way. A perfect blend of farce and profound ethical questioning\, Don Juan remains just as thought-provoking\, hilarious\, and relevant as when it was first put on (and promptly censored by France’s religious right) some 400 years ago. \n🎟️ FREE to attend with RSVP \n⏱️ Performance runtime: TBD \nDirected by Lucie Tiberghien \nTranslation by Stephen Wadsworth \n\n\nAbout Molière in the Park: \nMolière in the Park’s (MIP) mission is to promote empathy and unity within the diverse communities in Brooklyn through the arts. MIP offers free opportunities for all to come together in Prospect Park and experience the benefits of theater. MIP’s vision is of a Brooklyn where all communities can benefit equally from access to theater and the Arts.

SUMMARY:A Very Modern Classical Evening (Prospect Park)
DESCRIPTION:Brooklyn’s favorite free theater\, Molière in the Park is back with a staged reading of Le’Asha Julius’ new play The Regulars + Molière’s The Ludicrous Ladies! \nAbout the Play: \n“Pairing The Regulars\, a short tragedy in verse by rapper\, actor\, and playwright Le’Asha Julius with The Ludicrous Ladies\, a one act comedy in prose by Molière might appear at first as an exercise in contrast. New versus old\, serious versus farcical\, political versus domestic… but in content and in form the plays\, of course\, are neither fully one nor the other. More importantly\, despite the time and space that separates their authors\, both plays center two impassioned women with complex desires. Desires they fight for\, and that may or may not be born exclusively out of the limitations imposed on them by their place in the world. Will this pairing open up an angle of reflection on women’s struggles and how they’ve evolved or persisted? We hope you’ll join us to find out!”\n– Lucie Tiberghien \nAbout Molière in the Park: \nMolière in the Park’s (MIP) mission is to promote empathy and unity within the diverse communities in Brooklyn through the arts.
