Online registration is good for one caregiver and up two children (please indicate 1 or 2 children).  \n  \nMaryah Greene is a New York based\, Japan-bred Plant Doctor\, Author & Consultant and founder of Greene Piece. What started as an Instagram account filled with plant tips and tricks\, has blossomed into a full-blown business. She solidified her position as New York’s go-to plant stylist following appearances and features in The New York Times\, Vogue\, Good Morning America and more. Much like her plants\, Maryah knows what it’s like to start from seed and has no intention of stopping anytime soon.

The fraction of the Moon’s disk that is illuminated is increasing.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Greenpoint Library for a sewing and fiber arts get together on the second Tuesday of each month. \nFor those with experience\, the library has sewing machines available – sign up for a sewing machine by emailing mrogers@bklynlibrary.org. If you own a sewing machine\, feel free to bring it with you to the library. It is suggested that you have some experience and bring a project to work on\, although skillsharing is encouraged! The library has sewing and cutting tools to share. \nIf sewing is not your specialty\, you may still join and work on a fiber arts craft project of your choice…there will be embroidery! \nThe art circle is capped at 15 people to begin with\, so please only register if you know you will be able to attend. DESCRIPTION:Ages:  5-10 \nRegistration will open on October 30 2023 8:00 am. \nWhen you see a shooting star and make a wish\, did you know you are actually wishing on a piece of burning rock? Using printmaking techniques\, we will be creating our own meteor shower. What textures and colors does it have? When does it occur? How does it make the sky look? \nMaterials Provided: TBD \n  \nAccessibility \n\nWe are a 5-minute walk off the Nassau G stop. Our building entry\, elevator\, and bathroom are all ADA compliant.\nFor this workshop we will be in Eco Lab 1\, this room is brightly lit from a variety of fixtures and natural lighting.  Temperature varies.\nBeing a public space there is often overlapping noise within the building.  This workshop is geared towards kids which might include varying levels of sound depending on excitement or interest of group.  To reduce sensory input feel free to bring your own ear plugs or ask us if you’d like to borrow a sound filtering device.\nGrown-ups are encouraged to stay in the space to provide additional support to their child.  This may include help with motor skills or emotional support.

This week we’ll be learning about the planets in our solar system that have their own rings and satellites. \nMaterials Provided: Paper\, glue\, scissors\, recycled materials\, cardboard\, markers \n  \nAccessibility \n\nWe are a 5-minute walk off the Nassau G stop. Our building entry\, elevator\, and bathroom are all ADA compliant.\nFor this workshop we will be in Eco Lab 1\, this room is brightly lit from a variety of fixtures and natural lighting.  Temperature varies.\nBeing a public space there is often overlapping noise within the building.  This workshop is geared towards kids which might include varying levels of sound depending on excitement or interest of group.  To reduce sensory input feel free to bring your own ear plugs or ask us if you’d like to borrow a sound filtering device.\nGrown-ups are encouraged to stay in the space to provide additional support to their child.  This may include help with motor skills or emotional support.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Greenpoint Library for a sewing and fiber arts get together on the second Tuesday of each month. \nFor those with experience\, the library has sewing machines available – sign up for a sewing machine by emailing mrogers@bklynlibrary.org. If you own a sewing machine\, feel free to bring it with you to the library. It is suggested that you have some experience and bring a project to work on\, although skillsharing is encouraged! The library has sewing and cutting tools to share. \nIf sewing is not your specialty\, you may still join and work on a fiber arts craft project of your choice…there will be embroidery! \nThe art circle is capped at 15 people to begin with\, so please only register if you know you will be able to attend. We look forward to seeing you and your projects in October\, just in time for some cozy crafting.

SUMMARY:Seed Saving Workshop with Roots Unbound
DESCRIPTION:In our seed-saving workshop\, participants will learn how to save and store seeds from plants for future use. This can help preserve plant biodiversity and ensure a sustainable food supply. Participants can learn about different methods of seed saving\, including how to harvest\, dry\, and store seeds properly. The workshop may also cover topics like seed genetics\, crosspollination\, and germination. \nThis workshop is for those 18 years old and older. It will take place twice. Once on September 7th and once on September 28th. Registration opens 48 hours beforehand. If you register for the first workshop\, please do not register for the second to allow others to take part. \nRoots Unbound (RU) is an abolitionist grassroots organization based in Brooklyn offering nature-based programming centered around food justice\, therapeutic horticulture and ecological disinvestment to people in the NYC area with a focus on supporting and uplifting people impacted by the carceral system.

DESCRIPTION:Ages:  5-10 \nLet’s learn about our Moon! In this program we will be discussing Earth’s Moon phases and how it affects our planet. Children will be able to apply their knowledge by creating a Moon phase model out of paper. \nMaterials Provided: Paper\, glue\, scissors \n  \nAccessibility \n\nWe are a 5-minute walk off the Nassau G stop. Our building entry\, elevator\, and bathroom are all ADA compliant.\nFor this workshop we will be in Eco Lab 1\, this room is brightly lit from a variety of fixtures and natural lighting.  Temperature varies.\nBeing a public space there is often overlapping noise within the building.  This workshop is geared towards kids which might include varying levels of sound depending on excitement or interest of group.  To reduce sensory input feel free to bring your own ear plugs or ask us if you’d like to borrow a sound filtering device.\nGrown-ups are encouraged to stay in the space to provide additional support to their child.  This may include help with motor skills or emotional support.
