DESCRIPTION:Join Prospect Park Alliance\, the Eenda-Lunaapeewahkiing Collective and the American Indian Community House on Saturday\, December 7 and Sunday\, December 8 for a curated weekend of Lenape and other Indigenous performances and craft vendors. Experience Indigenous music\, dance\, food and crafts on the ancestral homelands of the Lenape peoples. \nHosting an Art and Craft fair in Prospect Park offers Lenape and other Indigenous artists and artisans from across the region an opportunity to share their cultures with Brooklynites of all backgrounds today. The Red Blanket Singers will perform songs\, dances\, and drumming at 1 pm and 3 pm each day. Enjoy corn husk making workshops\, Indigenous food vendors including the award-winning Sly Fox Den and over a dozen Indigenous art and crafts vendors. \nThis event is funded in part through the American Indian Community House and the Speaker’s Initiative of New York City Council Speaker Adrienne E. Adams and is part of Prospect Park Alliance’s ReImagine Lefferts Initiative. \nParticipating vendors include Turtle Soul Native Arts and Gifts by Leslie Faith Stonefish\, Denise Ashton-Dunkley\, Rudy Lazzaro Designs\, General & Ute Grant’s Traditional Hands\, Schenandoah Deerskin Designz\, Blue Turquoise Rose Trading Post\, Turtle 2 Turtle and more.

DESCRIPTION:Returning for its 10th season\, University Open Air (UOA) will be held in the grounds around the Prospect Park Boathouse from September 19th – 29th\, 2024. Please see the full schedule below. Registration is not required\, but it allows teacher to better prepare for their classes. \nAs it always does\, UOA provides immigrant teachers\, professors\, and academics\, who were trained outside of the U.S.\, an opportunity to share their knowledge with the public by welcoming students to enjoy free classes in collaboration with the Prospect Park Alliance. The September semester takes place on the grounds around the Prospect Park Boathouse while the spring residency is housed in one of the library’s branch locations. \nPlease direct additional questions about the upcoming session to Vanessa Baish at vbaish@bklynlibrary.org. \n*Please note\, while UOA courses aim to equip students with valuable skills\, they are non-accredited. \nCheck back here for Class Schedule.

DESCRIPTION:Join Prospect Park Alliance for the Labor Day School holiday in Prospect Park. \nNature Exploration 12–4 pm\nProspect Park Audubon Center\, Free\nJoin Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs on Thursdays and Fridays at the Prospect Park Audubon Center\, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation. \n\nLeaf Litter\, 12–3 pm:  Ever wondered what’s hiding beneath the leaves on the forest floor? Well\, there are seeds\, leaves\, insects\, and much more! Join us for our hands-on leaf litter activity to learn all about it.\nAnimal Encounter\, 2–3 pm: Join Alliance Naturalists in learning more about the animals in the Audubon Center’s collection. This program starts promptly at 2 pm\nTree ID Walk\, 3-4 pm: Join us as we delve into the wonder of nature! Are you curious about why and when trees shed their leaves? Gain hands-on experience in citizen science as we explore the Prospect Park environment and witness how changing temperatures affect the trees. We will provide you with a guide to help you record your observations. This program leaves the Audubon Center promptly at 3 pm.\n\nCarousel Rides\, 12–5 pm\nChildren’s Corner\, $3 per ride; $13 for a book of 5 tickets; Unlimited with Prospect Park Alliance Family Supporter membership or higher. Celebrate Labor Day with the park’s beloved Carousel. Join the Alliance at the Family Supporter level and your family (up to 4 people) will receive unlimited rides on the Carousel for a full year!
