Blooming naturalists of all ages are invited to take part in a beloved tradition more than 100 years in the making. The Holiday Bird Count is a nationwide census that helps conservation researchers track the long-term health of bird populations. \nPlan for four to eight hours of birding\, rain or shine\, followed by a potluck dinner and a live compilation of the day’s sightings\, which will be shared with participants after the count. We welcome individuals and families but children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of their stay. Check out what’s happening during Farmhouse Family Day while you’re here!\nDress for the mess! Make sure to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting messy in and wear close toed shoes to protect your feet.\nCome Prepared: We will provide all the tools and protective gear for your projects but coming prepared with a hat\, long sleeved shirt\, sunscreen\, and bug spray is always a good idea.\nFacilities: Water fountain and public restrooms are available on-site. SUMMARY:University Open Air (Prospect Park)
DESCRIPTION:University Open Air (UOA) provides immigrant teachers\, professors\, and academics\, who were trained outside of the U.S.\, an opportunity to share their knowledge with the public by welcoming students to enjoy free classes in collaboration with the Prospect Park Alliance. The September semester takes place on the grounds around the Prospect Park Boathouse while the spring residency is housed in one of the library’s branch locations. \nImmigrant scholars interested in teaching a class or workshop are always invited to submit a proposal to Vanessa Baish at vbaish@bklynlibrary.org. Please note\, while UOA courses aim to equip students with valuable skills\, they are non-accredited. \nUOA Fall 2025 classes will take place on September 25\, 27 and 28\, and October 2\, 4 and 5 on the grounds around the Prospect Park Boathouse.
