DESCRIPTION:Green Team takes place twice a month\, April-October.   \nGreen Team volunteers support essential horticultural care in Brooklyn Bridge Park\, completing tasks such as weeding\, planting and mulching. This is a great opportunity to learn about gardening\, enjoy nature\, and make a tangible difference in the Park with a group of other volunteers. \nVolunteers of all ages are welcome (under 16’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian) and no volunteer orientation is required. No gardening experience is necessary; we provide all the instructions and tools needed for a rewarding experience! \nAdvance registration is required. DESCRIPTION:Learn the basics of catch-and-release line fishing from the Brooklyn Bridge Conservancy’s own expert anglers. During this clinic\, participants of all ages will learn how to tie knots\, bait a hook\, drop a line\, and (with some luck) reel up a fish! Join for kite-making workshops and be awed at the talent of expert flying instructors – and learn some tips! This family-friendly festival unites S.T.E.A.M concepts\, the Caribbean’s rich history of kite-flying\, and outdoor adventures. \nLive entertainment will be provided by the Eruption Steel Orchestra. Additionally Maestro\, Trumpeter\, conductor\, composer and arranger Igmar Thomas will curate live musical performances at locations across the park. Check back for schedule and full details. \nWe highly encourage families to celebrate their own kite-flying traditions as well as their heritage by bringing their own kites. Held at 3:00 PM on the third Thursday of every month (during Open Hours). \nLibrarians from Brooklyn Public Library Adams Street location lead for an exciting and engaging storytime session\, along with singing and rhymes. Each month they select a book to pair with the Education Center’s monthly nature theme. Stick around after to check out all the animals and activities in the room during Open Hours! Storytime is typically about a half hour long. \nWalk-ups only; we do our utmost to accommodate as many walk-ups as space allows. \nThe Environmental Education Center is still encouraging all visitors to wear a mask to help protect others.
