SUMMARY:Art Under the Bridge: Rubber Stamp It! Low-Relief Printing on Fabric
DESCRIPTION:Join educators from Brooklyn Bridge Park in carving stamps and printing with them on a tote bag\, as part of our Art Under the Bridge series. Participants will create a design\, learn how to transfer it to the stamp material\, safely use lino cutters\, and then print using fabric ink. \nThis is a fun art form that you can then easily do at home. All materials will be provided\, but you can also bring your own item to print on as you please. Just make sure that whatever you bring is light-colored as we will be printing with black ink. \nNo previous experience necessary. This workshop is best suited for ages 13 and up. We will be using sharp cutting tools and all participants will need to sign a legal waiver when they arrive. The event is first-come\, first-serve with 25 spots available. Advanced registration is encouraged but not required.

DESCRIPTION:Join Brooklyn Bridge Park Educators in identifying and counting birds as part of the 29th annual Great Backyard Bird Count. This is an adult-centered program\, inviting you to participate in a world-wide community science event. Help us collect data for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology\, the National Audubon Society\, and Birds Canada and contribute to their annual survey of all the birds in the world. \nWe will begin our count at Pier 1\, at the Pavilion\, and walk through as much of the Park as possible within our two-hour window. There will be some stairs involved and uneven ground. Bathrooms will be available at multiple locations. \nNo prior birding experience necessary. A limited number of binoculars will be available so bring your own if you have them. This event is first-come\, first-serve with 15 spots available. The 90-minute workshop helps you start or expand your nature journaling practice\, providing you with ecological context\, thematic prompts and time to journal. \nDecember’s theme\, “Preparing for Winter”\, invites you to observe and learn how plants and animals ready themselves for the cold winter. \nThis series is intended for adults\, but all are welcome. This event meets at the Park offices at 334 Furman St (near Pier 5) and will be a blend of indoor/outdoor. This event is first come\, first serve\, with 20 total spots available. Advance registration encouraged but not required.
