DESCRIPTION:Beginning April 5\, Bargemusic will be hosting its concerts at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse\, 10 Montague Street. The Boathouse\, an achitectural jewel at Pier 5\, boasts gorgeous floor-to-ceiling views of the river and lower Manhattan. Nestled below a grassy earthworks crescent that shelters the Boathouse from traffic noise\, the wood-paneled hall yields a warm and vibrant sound for chamber music. SUMMARY:Walt Whitman's Song of Myself
DESCRIPTION:The Walt Whitman Initiative’s annual “Song of Myself” Marathon is an open public reading of Walt Whitman’s celebrated poem. \nReaders volunteer to recite the 52 sections of “Song of Myself”\, often personalizing their reading with an interpretation through song\, dance\, translation into different languages\, musical accompaniment\, or other original means. If interested\, check back for registration! \nThe 52 sections are performed sequentially without an intermission. Audience attendees are invited to sit on the Granite Prospect steps facing readers\, while enjoying views of Manhattan Bridge\, the Brooklyn Bridge and East River. \nThe podium has a microphone that is connected to two speakers to amplify the recitations. A limited number of chairs will be available for those for whom sitting on the steps is difficult or uncomfortable. \nWalt Whitman lovers may also want to join the day before for the Walt Whitman Walking Tour on Saturday\, September 14!
