The program offers hands-on learning experiences to help you integrate plants and outdoor education into your curriculum. You’ll learn how to use the beautiful gardens at Brooklyn Botanic Garden as a living laboratory to teach science\, math\, language arts\, and more. Not only will you gain valuable skills and knowledge\, but you’ll also have the opportunity to connect with other educators who share your passion for teaching and learning! \n*** \n3 “P” Credit Course*\nAre you interested in learning about the fascinating world of plants? Explore the beautiful gardens and collections at Brooklyn Botanic Garden and gain an understanding of the value of plants in natural and human history. Through an inquiry-based approach\, we will discover how plants are built\, how they work\, and how they interact with the living and nonliving components of the diverse environments they inhabit. Emphasis is placed on experiential\, authentic learning that participants can readily bring back to their classrooms. \nIn-person classes run 4–6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. An additional 15 hours of asynchronous work will be assigned. Fee includes curriculum materials and resources\, plants and potting-up supplies\, and access to the Garden. \nPre-K–12 Teachers\nFee: $250; there is a 4.5% registration fee for all courses. \nDate: 12 in-person sessions; February 26–May 21\, 2025 (no class on April 16) \nRegister \nFor questions\, please contact us at teachereducation@bbg.org.

Since our lives are inextricably linked with pollinators and plants\, this year’s conference gives us the opportunity to consider our place alongside them in our urban ecosystems. \nThe day’s workshops\, tours\, and keynote address will inspire the care needed to lead us into a more pollinated present. Visitors will have the opportunity to network with NYC greening organizations in the Palm House. The Wilbur A. Levin Keynote Address\, “Roots and Relationships: How Native Plants Connect Us to Our Past and Our Future\,” will be presented by Courtney Streett\, President/Executive Director\, Native Roots Farm Foundation. ASL interpretation is provided for all talks in the Auditorium. \nRegistration opens at 10 a.m. on the day of the event. Arrive early—spots for workshops and the keynote address fill quickly.
