We’ll guide you on choosing the right olla for your plants\, how to install it\, and where to place it for the best results. You will also learn how often to refill it\, maintenance tips\, and how to check your plants’ hydration needs. By the end of the workshop\, you will know how to use ollas to reduce water waste and promote healthier plants. \nNYC Parks GreenThumb hosts this event. SUMMARY:Volunteer Workday: Amboy Street Garden
DESCRIPTION:GreenThumb community gardens are developed\, led\, and cared for by dedicated volunteers who critically upkeep community gardens as public green spaces. \nAmboy Street Garden is a spacious\, thriving green space in Brownsville\, Brooklyn where an active garden group enjoys vibrant pollinator gardens\, 44 food-growing plots\, fruit trees and berry bushes\, and an inviting space to sit and commune with nature. \nJoin us for a volunteer day to remove invasive weeds\, plant pollinators\, and spread wood chips! Volunteers will learn seasonal garden maintenance and how to join a GreenThumb community garden. Gloves and tools will be provided. Bring water\, snacks\, and clothes and shoes/boots you don’t mind getting dirty.
