DESCRIPTION:ANNUAL JOB\, INTERNSHIP\, AND VOLUNTEERING EXPO\nHave you ever wanted to get involved at the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS)? If so\, join us for the WCS Youth JIVE (Job\, Internship\, and Volunteering Expo)! This annual event is usually held in early February. \nThe WCS Youth JIVE is an interactive opportunity for youth (ages 14-26) to learn about paid and unpaid positions at our New York City Zoos and Aquarium (BRONX ZOO\, CENTRAL PARK ZOO\, PROSPECT PARK ZOO\, QUEENS ZOO\, AND THE NEW YORK AQUARIUM). Participants will attend workshops and meet directly with hiring managers. \n\n14- and 15-year-olds can learn more about WCS’s volunteer opportunities and how to use volunteer positions as a springboard into paid positions down the line.\n16-26 year olds can meet hiring managers and learn about the many jobs\, internships\, and volunteer opportunities available at the WCS Zoos and Aquarium.\n\n\n\n***\nREGISTRATION FOR JIVE 2024 IS NOW OPEN!\nThere are TWO WAYS to participate: Attend the in-person event at the Bronx Zoo on Saturday February 3\, 2024 OR if you cannot attend in-person\, sign up to access self-guided digital resources. \n  \n\n14 – 15 YEAR OLDS REGISTER HERE (Sat. 2/3\, 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM)\n\n\n\n\n\n16 – 26 YEAR OLDS REGISTER HERE (Sat. 2/3\, 11 AM to 1 PM)\n\n\n\n\nSign up to access digital resources (ongoing)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou can also check out WCS’s job\, volunteer\, and internship opportunities anytime. \n*Please contact us at youth@wcs.org with any additional questions about the event.

SUMMARY:Volunteer Landscaping and Cleanup at the Ridgewood Reservoir
DESCRIPTION:Join NYC H2O and the NYC Parks Department as we remove invasive plants and plant native plants in the pollinator garden! \nThe Ridgewood Reservoir in Highland Park is a 50+ acre natural oasis that straddles the border of Brooklyn and Queens. Built in 1859 to supply the once independent City of Brooklyn with high quality water\, it became obsolete with the addition of new reservoirs in the Catskills in the 1950’s and was decommissioned in the 1980’s. \nSince then\, nature took its course in a perfect case study of ecological succession. A lush and dense forest has grown in its two outside basins while a freshwater pond with waterfowl sits in the middle basin. This fresh water source is critical to migrating birds on the Atlantic Flyway. \nWe will meet in the parking lot on Vermont Place\, Brooklyn\, NY 11207\, across the street from the reservoir.
