DESCRIPTION:Join Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center\, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation. Please note the Prospect Park Audubon is open for the public school holiday and there is no special programming. \nNature Around Us\, 12–3 pm: Enjoy different seasonal discovery stations and nature themed activities that will introduce you to the plants\, insects and animals that call the park home. The Lake and Lullwater are home to many plants and animals. Help us to test the water quality and investigate pond samples that are filled with living organisms.  \nAnimal Encounter\, 2–3 pm: Join Alliance Naturalists in learning more about the animals in the Audubon Center’s collection. This program starts promptly at 2 pm. \nWinter Wilderness Walk\, 3-4 pm: Curious about animal tracks in the snow\, how trees survive without leaves\, or how bugs stay warm? Join an Alliance Naturalist for a tour of how plants and animals live in the winter months. This program leaves from the Audubon Center promptly at 3 pm.

DESCRIPTION:Are you concerned about the budget cuts to community composting in NYC? Want to know more? \nJoin us for a broad overview and detailed discussion of the different nonprofits that make up the NYC Compost Project. Learn what each nonprofit does and how they work together to bring many benefits to communities. \nWe will discuss funding issues\, intersections with environmental justice\, and why community composting is critical for a green and resilient future. We will also discuss DSNY’s curbside organics brown bins and orange Smart Bins as they relate to composting in general. \nThis is a Save Our Compost coalition teach-in with 4 opportunities to attend a session in Manhattan\, Brooklyn\, Queens and/or on Zoom (which will have representatives from Staten Island and Bronx). All events will be live-streamed on the Save Our Compost instagram.
