DESCRIPTION:Volunteer with the Stewardship Team to learn more about and protect the wetland and forested areas in Ecology Park! Volunteers will contribute to ongoing restoration work and learn the importance of species diversity to ecosystem health. The event will include a tour of the park. Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes\, long sleeves\, long pants\, and clothing that can get dirty. Face masks may be worn at your discretion. Space is limited and registration is required. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a chaperone. This event has been funded in part by NYC Service. Please note the Prospect Park Audubon is open for the public school holiday and there is no special programming. \nNature Around Us\, 12–3 pm: Enjoy different seasonal discovery stations and nature themed activities that will introduce you to the plants\, insects and animals that call the park home. The Lake and Lullwater are home to many plants and animals. Help us to test the water quality and investigate pond samples that are filled with living organisms. \nWinter Wilderness Walk\, 3–4 pm: Curious about animal tracks in the snow\, how trees survive without leaves\, or how bugs stay warm? Join an Alliance Naturalist for a tour of how plants and animals live in the winter months. This program leaves from the Audubon Center promptly at 3 pm.
