DESCRIPTION:Volunteer with the Stewardship Team to learn more about and protect the forested areas in Ecology Park! Volunteers will contribute to ongoing restoration work and learn the importance of species diversity to ecosystem health. The event will include a tour of the park. Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes\, long sleeves\, long pants\, and clothing that can get dirty. Face masks may be worn at your discretion. Space is limited and registration is required. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a chaperone. This event has been funded in part by NYC Service. Each month they select a book to pair with the Education Center’s monthly nature theme. Stick around after to check out all the animals and activities in the room during Open Hours! Storytime is typically about a half hour long. \nWalk-ups only; we do our utmost to accommodate as many walk-ups as space allows. \nThe Environmental Education Center is still encouraging all visitors to wear a mask to help protect others.

The Lake and Lullwater are home to many plants and animals. Help us to test the water quality and investigate pond samples that are filled with living organisms. \nAnimal Encounter\, 1–2 pm: Join Alliance Naturalists in learning about the animals in the Center’s collection. This program starts promptly at 2 pm. \nFamily Nature Walk\, 2–3 pm: Prospect Park is a stopping point for hundreds of bird species each year! Join us as we search for these amazing creatures and other nature around the park. Binoculars and bird guides are provided. This program departs from the Audubon Center promptly at 2 pm.
