DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to bring back our Autumn Evenings and give the community Newtown Native Nursery hours to amplify your greenspace in the Fall! \n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nCome join NCA every Friday from September 5 to October 17 to see the green roofs at Kingsland Wildflowers and explore (and purchase) plants from our Native Plant Nursery. \nThe event’s allow the public to learn about the green roofs and native plants\, as well as experiencing the Newtown Creek during the golden hour from our scenic wildflower meadows. This is a family friendly event\, kindly keep in mind that we use our green roofs as an educational resource\, we prefer that furry friends stay at home. NCA staff will be on hand to answer questions about the space\, the ecological benefits of green roofs\, and talk about our current activities around Newtown Creek! \nThe event is free and open to all. The main green roofs can be accessed via elevator\, however the nursery area is not ADA accessible (small staircase). \nCheck out the various native plants that we have been growing on site; purchases can also be made online in advance!

Bring everything over to the Greencycle Back-to-School Swap on Saturday\, September 27th\, 2025.  Location: MS 126 cafeteria\, 424 Leonard Street (Bayard entrance\, between Manhattan Ave & Leonard Street). \n  \nRSVP here: bit.ly/greencycle-swap.  Join Town Square’s efforts to recycle\, reuse and reduce! Drop off your cleaned and useable CLOTHES\, SHOES\, BEDDING\, BOOKS\, TOYS\, AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS – and browse the selection. \n  \nSIMPLE RULES:\n• Only cleaned\, gently used and useable items please. No need to bring anything to take items. \n• Out of consideration for others\, we may limit folks to the 1 bag or the number of bags that you’ve brought to donate to the swap. \n• We do not accept any items other than clothes\, shoes\, bedding\, books\, and toys. \n• We do not allow taking donated items to resell. Why? Because all remaining items are donated to local homeless shelters for neighbors truly in need. \nSince 2008\, Town Square has been promoting environmental consciousness at the local level through our Greencycle Swaps. We firmly believe that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure! We’re delighted to partner with Clay Family Residence / Home Life Services to keep +1\,500 pounds of perfectly good items out of our landfills for every Greencycle Swap.  We love helping our neighbors while benefiting our environment! \n  \nSuggested donation: $10 a family to help cover costs and support local Scouts Pack 7\, Troop 26 and the very 1st Brooklyn female troop\, Troop 1G. Town Square is a qualified 501(c)(3) not‐for‐profit institution. Your donation will be TAX DEDUCTIBLE to the full extent of the law.
