We have tools and gloves (but bring yours if you have them)! Wear clothes that can get dirty and a bring a water bottle. It’s lots of fun- meet other garden aficionados\, identify plants\, discuss best weeding practices :). \nMeet at 50 Kent Ave section (@ N 11th Street) in Williamsburg Brooklyn. \nWe are grateful for support from NYC Parks\, Partnerships for Parks and North Brooklyn Parks Alliance. \nPlease register. \n\n\n

DESCRIPTION:Come join us for Open Hours at Kingsland Wildflowers — learn about the green roofs and native plants while enjoying a scenic view! \n\n\n\n\nOpen Hours at Kingsland Wildflowers — an opportunity for the public to learn about the green roofs\, the native plants present\, and the Newtown Creek while enjoying the golden hour from our scenic wildflower meadows. Open hours are free and open to the public and will take place every Friday from April 24 to June 26\, 2026\, weather-permitting. \nFor the 2026 Open Hours season\, our Newtown Native Nursery will be open\, allowing visitors to explore (and purchase) native plants that we grow on site\, which can be a great addition for any greenspace you may have or be involved in! \nThis is a family friendly event\, kindly keep in mind that we use our green roofs as an educational resource\, we prefer that furry friends stay at home. NCA staff will be on hand to answer questions about the space\, the ecological benefits of green roofs\, and talk about our current activities around Newtown Creek! We will have drinks and light refreshments on hand for guests to enjoy. \nMusic and additional programming on select Fridays: \n\nApril 24 – 5:30 p.m. Drifter & 6:30 p.m. Joe Feldmann\nMay 8 – Melting Metropolis‘ storyteller in residence Isa Dorvillier\nMay 15 – Traditional Irish Folk Music\nMay 29 – Aaron Roche\nJune 19 – Dharma Summers sings love songs and ballads\nJune 26 – Wyatt Bertz + Helen Gallagher\n\nPlease note that not all roofs are ADA compliant\, our paths have a 34” width and can have some uneven surfaces including bluestone\, small gravel\, and soil.
