DESCRIPTION:Come learn the fascinating history of indigo\, how to make a vat for dyeing and create your own Japanese Shibori textiles! \nIn this class participants will get the chance to experience the creation of an entire Shibori pattern\, from dye to design. Fabric will be provided\, but feel free to bring along some light-colored natural fabrics to experiment with (cotton\, linen\, wool\, etc.)! \nShibori is a traditional Japanese indigo dyeing technique\, in which sections of fabric are tied\, folded\, or sewn before the dyeing process to create patterns in the finished textile. \nThis class will be taught be Nelise Nasheida. Nelise is a textile designer\, artist\, living and creating in Brooklyn\, NY. \n. \nWhat to Bring: Your imagination and light-colored natural fabrics to experiment with (cotton\, linen\, wool\, etc.)! \nWhat to Expect: Creative time in a natural park setting\, open to all ages. \nWhere to Meet: Just inside the Greenpoint Ave entrance. \nSign up here\nRegistering helps us track volunteer hours and ensure everyone has the right supplies.
