DESCRIPTION:Join us for a solar art class outside at Transmitter Park. \nHave you ever seen a blue photograph? If you lived in the 1800s you would have. By placing objects on special paper and exposing the paper to sunlight\, early photographers created blue images\, called cyanotypes or sun prints. Join us together with artist and photographer Amy Williams for an outdoor printmaking workshop using native foliage. \n\nNo experience necessary\nYou will take home a frameable print\nAll supplies will be provided\nAges 12+\n\nMeet at the Greenpoint entrance at the Friends’ table. \n*Registration required. \nAmy Williams is a photographer and mixed media artist living and working in Greenpoint\, Brooklyn. Trained in traditional photographic methods\, Williams continues to embrace these techniques despite the digital revolution of the photography world. Her photographs have been featured in the French art magazine Frog\, as well as the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. Williams has exhibited extensively at 440 Gallery in Brooklyn and has been included in two group shows at Galerie de Multiples in Paris\, France. Her work is in corporate and private collections in New York\, Washington D.C.\, Seattle\, Paris and Saudi Arabia. \n(Rain date: Saturday\, July 15 -10am – 12pm)

DESCRIPTION:Join the Kingsland Wildflowers partners for a summer evening of hands-on activities\, art\, entertainment\, and fun! \n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nThe native rooftop meadow and wildlife habitat located on the banks of Newtown Creek\, a federal Superfund site\, was created through a close collaboration of private and nonprofit entities interested in rewriting the narrative on the possibilities of ecological and industrial cohabitation. This annual festival aims to bring awareness to Greenpoint’s and the surrounding communities’ long-standing environmental burdens; transition to a cleaner\, healthier future; as well as the global climate crisis and the potential for local\, community-based solutions. \nAdditional details will be announced soon. \nInterested in Volunteering?
