DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Black Birders Week 2026 (May 24-May 30)! Black Birders Week was created in 2020 by the BlackAFinSTEM Collective to celebrate and highlight Black birders\, scientists\, naturalists\, and outdoor enthusiasts who deserve to enjoy their time in nature without fear of harassment. \n*** \n\n\nPuppets at the Park presents an original show in honor of Black Birders Week\, “Karen Cardinal’s New Neighbors!” \n\n\n\n\nDiversity is important\, even in nature! Puppets at the Park House presents “Karen Cardinal’s New Neighbors!” When some migratory birds settle into Karen Cardinal’s neighborhood\, she learns that our differences are what make us special. \nIn collaboration with the organizations Black AF In STEM and NYC Bird Alliance\, join the NYS Parks’ New York City team in celebrating Black Birders Week 2026! Let’s support budding Black birders\, expert Black birders\, and all birders and wanna be birders in between! \nAll programs are free and materials are provided. \n. \nWho: A ll ages. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. \nWhen: Thursday May 28th. Shows at: 2pm\, 3pm and 4pm. \nShowings will last approximately 20 minutes. \nWhere: The Blue Park House near the flower gate entrance at Marsha P. Johnson State Park \n90 Kent Ave\, Brooklyn\, New York \nCross streets – N 8th and Kent Ave \nPLEASE NOTE: \n\nRegistration is recommended but not required to secure your space in the program. Please reserve one ticket per individual.\nIf the program is sold out\, but you still wish to attend\, we encourage you to walk up and see if space is available.\nIn the case of inclement weather\, the program may be rescheduled or canceled.
