SUMMARY:Northside Improvement District (BID)
DESCRIPTION:The proposed Northside Improvement District (BID) in Williamsburg\, Brooklyn has scheduled upcoming public meetings to discuss the proposal\, answer questions\, and gather community feedback: \nPublic Meeting 1:\n• Date & Time: Wednesday\, October 28\, 2026\, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM\n• Location: 25 Kent Ave\, Brooklyn\, NY\n• Registration: Details and reservations are available via Eventbrite. \nPublic Meeting 2:\n• Date & Time: Saturday\, November 14\, 2026\, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM\n• Location: Bushwick Inlet Park Community Building\, Brooklyn\, NY\n• Registration: Reservations are available via Eventbrite. \nAbout the Proposal: The proposed Northside BID aims to supplement city services with localized sanitation\, streetscape management\, open street/park maintenance\, and economic development funded through property assessments \nThese are public meetings to answer questions and spread accurate information about the proposed Northside Improvement District (BID). \n\nIn October 2025\, a Steering Committee of local residents\, property owners\, and business owners released a proposal to form a Business Improvement District (BID) in North Williamsburg\, alongside a petition on whether or not this BID should be formed.\nA Business Improvement District is a government-adjacent nonprofit which reinvests funds from real estate into public space sanitation and beautification within a clearly defined district. For almost all areas of growth in New York City\, BIDs have been the mechanism to adapt to a greater number of people on the street\, both visitors and residents. There are currently 78 BIDs in NYC.\nSince the ballot’s release\, we have sent informative mailers to every address in the neighborhood\, distributed flyers\, phone banked\, hosted community happy hours\, business mixers\, and cleanup events. Our “BID office hours” have also been open for booking 5 days a week.\nThese public meetings are an additional method for spreading accurate information to the Northside. If you have not engaged with any of our other events\, tablings\, or mailings\, this is an opportunity for you to hear from our Steering Committee and Councilmember
