DESCRIPTION:Movies With A View returns this July!\nCelebrate the return of Movies with a View and our 23rd season of Brooklyn’s beloved outdoor film series! Movies take place on eight consecutive Thursdays in July and August at Pier 1 Harbor View Lawn\, organized by Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. Doors open at 6:00 PM\, movies start at sunset. All Movies With A View events are free. \nThis year the theme of “We Are Family” brings together a wide range of films celebrating family and relationships in all of their diverse forms. From dynamic work buddies engaged in friendly competition to a heartwarming tale of a newfound friend with a penchant for Reese’s Pieces\, to thrilling stories of criminal enterprises and a mother’s epic journey through the multiverse to save her daughter\, there are movies for all to enjoy. \n2023 Movies With A View presents: \n\nJuly 6: E.T. Extra Terrestrial (PG)\nJuly 13: Smoke Signals (PG-13)\nJuly 20: Top Gun (PG)\nJuly 27: Psycho (R)\nAugust 3: GoodFellas (R)\nAugust 10: Despicable Me (PG)\nAugust 17: Everything Everywhere All At Once (R)\nAugust 24: Public Choice with the following options: 90’s favorite The Addams Family (PG-13)\, Greta Gerwig’s Little Women (PG)\, or Romeo + Juliet (1996\, PG-13). Voting will open online in early August on the event page.\n\nEnjoy pre-show music by DJ’s curated from Brooklyn Radio\, film shorts curated by BAM Film\, and bike valet parking provided by Transportation Alternatives. Multimedia artists Jaqueline Cedar of Good Naked Gallery and Kayla Rymer will lead participants through a series of mindful drawing exercises which open our vision to see with fresh eyes\, while picking up some practical drawing skills along the way. Pencil & paper provided; BYO markers\, watercolors\, charcoal\, etc. if you’d like you expand your range of materials. All levels welcome! \n*** \nJuly 7 at 6:00pm \nConscious Sleep Meditation AKA Yoga Nidra\nAges: adults\, teens \nLed by Jessica Crow of CNTRD Wellness\, this class will demonstrate the power of traditional Yoga Nidra (‘Conscious Sleep’) to help reset the nervous system\, reduce stress and anxiety\, promote physical healing and rejuvenation\, and encourage better sleep and focus. This guided deep relaxation meditation technique is accessible to everyone. Smudging involves burning dried sage leaves as part of a purification ritual\, commonly used by indigenous cultures in North and South America for spiritual & medicinal purposes. Participants will: \n\nExplore the history & cultural significance of burning sage\nDiscover its disinfectant & health benefits\, including antibacterial & antifungal properties\, respiratory support\, and mood enhancement\nLearn how to bundle sage for burning & incorporate it into personal wellness routines\n\n*** \nTuesday\, August 15th at 6:30pm \nSunset Drawing Club: Mindful Drawing\nAges: adults \nJoin us at golden hour in the park\, overlooking the river\, to practice drawing from observation. Together we cultivate connection\, presence\, and playfulness that we’ll learn to take with us into our day-to-day lives. No acting experience required – all levels welcome. \n*** \nThursday\, September 7th 6:30pm – 8:00pm \nThe Psychedelic Humanities\nAges: adults \nProfessor Doc Kelley\, accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Chris Dingman\, will discuss the value of psychedelic research and application within the realm of the humanities\, which by its very nature is meant to question ethics\, meaning\, and value.
