This is a family friendly event\, kindly keep in mind that we use our green roofs as an educational resource\, we prefer that furry friends stay at home. NCA staff will be on hand to answer questions about the space\, the ecological benefits of green roofs\, and talk about our current activities around Newtown Creek! \nThe event is free and open to all. The main green roofs can be accessed via elevator\, however the nursery area is not ADA accessible (small staircase). \nCheck out the various native plants that we have been growing on site; purchases can also be made online in advance!

These movie nights bring out hundreds of people of all ages to the park. Each year we show five family-friendly movies on the large inflatable screen\, with the NYC skyline as a backdrop. \nThe Conversancy will show Lilo & Stitch on September 12\, sponsored by Shibley Day Camp. \nAll movies start at sunset. Bring your blankets early to get a good spot\, as last year several of the movie nights brought out over 1\,000 people.

All ages are welcome to this free drop-in program. \nThis weekend\, you might notice students and experts performing data collection throughout the Park. This “bioblitz” event is being done by the Park’s horticulture team in partnership with Macaulay Honors College\, with the goal to observe and document the wide array of natural life living within the Park. Follow along to observe their findings on iNaturalist! \nInspired by this weekend of environmental monitoring\, stop by our Education Station to make your own quadrat\, which is a simple\, square measuring tool that is used by scientists to visually estimate and sample the plants and life under it. Observe your own findings and learn the importance of our local ecology.

The first Pow Wow held in Prospect Park since 1972\, and the second ever Lenape Pow Wow\, this free two-day public event welcomes the original Indigenous Lenape peoples who were forced to relocate across the continent back to their ancestral homelands to unite together again to share their cultures with Brooklynites today. Join the weekend of family friendly fun\, culture\, art and learning with Indigenous dancers\, drummers\, and artisan craft and food vendors. \nLenape grandfather George Stonefish organized the First United Lenape / Lunáapeew Nations Pow Wow which took place at the Park Avenue Armory in 2018.
