By placing objects on special paper and exposing the paper to sunlight\, early photographers created blue images\, called cyanotypes or sun prints. Join us together with artist and photographer Amy Williams for an outdoor printmaking workshop using native foliage. \n\nNo experience necessary\nYou will take home a frameable print\nAll supplies will be provided\nAges 12+\n\nMeet at the Greenpoint entrance at the Friends’ table. \n*Registration required. \nAmy Williams is a photographer and mixed media artist living and working in Greenpoint\, Brooklyn. Trained in traditional photographic methods\, Williams continues to embrace these techniques despite the digital revolution of the photography world. Her photographs have been featured in the French art magazine Frog\, as well as the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. Williams has exhibited extensively at 440 Gallery in Brooklyn and has been included in two group shows at Galerie de Multiples in Paris\, France. SUMMARY:Core and Flexibility Training with Dodge YMCA
DESCRIPTION:Join for our new Core and Flexibility Training class with Dodge YMCA to improve strength\, tone\, and flexibility. The goal of this class is to grow your confidence\, improve your connection with your body\, and push past your perceived limits. The class is a combination of core and flexibility exercises designed to build a strong foundation of movement capacity. Classes run on Sundays\, May 7-September 24\, 10:00 AM-11:00 AM at the Pier 6 Lawn. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring their own mats; an extremely limited number will be available to borrow from Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy staff. \nAdvanced registration is required. We are now opening registration by-the-month (opens at the start of the month for all classes that month) here. \nImportant: In addition to registration\, all fitness participants are required to fill out our fitness waiver here. Once completed\, your waiver is good for all Conservancy fitness classes of the 2023 season – you only need to fill it out once! Those under 18 years of age must have a parent/guardian complete the form on their behalf. \nConfirmation emails include a link to this waiver. It must be completed before you can participate in any of our fitness programming; individuals who have not completed a waiver will not be permitted to join. SUMMARY:Volunteer Landscaping and Cleanup at the Ridgewood Reservoir
DESCRIPTION:Join NYC H2O and the NYC Parks Department as we remove invasive plants and plant native plants in the pollinator garden! \nThe Ridgewood Reservoir in Highland Park is a 50+ acre natural oasis that straddles the border of Brooklyn and Queens. Built in 1859 to supply the once independent City of Brooklyn with high quality water\, it became obsolete with the addition of new reservoirs in the Catskills in the 1950’s and was decommissioned in the 1980’s. \nSince then\, nature took its course in a perfect case study of ecological succession. A lush and dense forest has grown in its two outside basins while a freshwater pond with waterfowl sits in the middle basin. This fresh water source is critical to migrating birds on the Atlantic Flyway. \nWe will meet in the parking lot on Vermont Place\, Brooklyn\, NY 11207\, across the street from the reservoir.

DESCRIPTION:North Brooklyn Neighbors is teaming up with North Brooklyn Mutual Aid for a fun-filled event. \nWe will be using our new XRF machine to offer free soil testing. Bring a sample of your soil in a clear\, plastic sandwich bag with about 2 cups of soil. We will use our machine to test the heavy metal (i.e. lead) content of your soil and results will be available immediately. Information on safely dealing with high levels of lead in soil will be available in English\, Polish\, and Spanish. \nStop by to collect up to three 40-lb bag of compost made from NYC food scraps and yard waste. Register in advance for compost pickup\, only one sign-up per household please. \nNo registration required for soil testing.

ZUMBA is a fusion of Latin and International music\, utilizing dance themes that create a dynamic\, exciting\, effective fitness program. This class features aerobic training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Sneakers are recommended! Classes run on Mondays at 6:00 PM\, May 1 through September 25 at the Pier 3 Plaza. \n\n\n\nAdvanced registration is required. We are now opening registration by-the-month (opens at the start of the month for all classes that month) here. \nImportant: In addition to registration\, all fitness participants are required to fill out our fitness waiver here. Once completed\, your waiver is good for all Conservancy fitness classes of the 2023 season – you only need to fill it out once! Those under 18 years of age must have a parent/guardian complete the form on their behalf. \nConfirmation emails include a link to this waiver. It must be completed before you can participate in any of our fitness programming; individuals who have not completed a waiver will not be permitted to join.
