DESCRIPTION:Domino Park is hosting a summer full of imagination adventures\, sensory play and sing-alongs for kiddos. All programming is free to all! \n*** \nJoin Domino Park on the Main Lawn for a series of kids programming\, led by local partners\, A Rosie Day\, Treasure Trunk Theatre and Ari\, the Sing-along Guy. All ages welcome! \nSchedule\n~ All classes start at 10 am~ \n\nSunday\, June 16: Imagination Adventure: Enchanted Garden with Treasure Trunk Theatre\nSunday\, July 14: Upcycled Art Play with A Rosie Day\nSunday\, July 28: Rockin’ Kid’s Sing-along with Ari\, the Sing-along Guy\nSunday\, August 04: Potion Play with A Rosie Day\nSunday\, August 11: Imagination Adventure: Fairytale Forest with Treasure Trunk Theatre\nSunday\, August 25: Imagination Adventure: Nature Superheroes with Treasure Trunk Theatre\n\nAbout our Partners and Classes\nTreasure Trunk Theatre \nTreasure Trunk Theatre’s enthusiastic teaching artists take kiddos on interactive adventures! They begin with theatrical games and activities to warm up their bodies\, voices and imaginations before opening their magical treasure trunk to reveal themed prop items for each kiddo. They use props to spark an exciting voyage to faraway lands\, meeting characters and overcoming obstacles all along the way in search of a hidden\, secret surprise. Kiddos will be giving their creative suggestions to help shape each storyline! Every class is a brand new adventure! \nA Rosie Day \nA Rosie Day’s innovative program is designed for parents/guardians and children aged 12 months and above. Classes are crafted to incorporate art\, sensory play\, technology\, and engineering into early math and science exploration\, following the Reggio Emilia approach. \nUpcycled Art (7/14) \nJoin A Rosie Day in minimizing waste by reusing household items! By utilizing a variety of recycled materials like cardboard\, plastic caps\, coffee tins\, cans\, paper towel rolls\, and more\, little artists are inspired to enhance their creations further. Not only will this initiative add depth and creativity to their artwork\, but the environment will also appreciate your sustainable efforts in reducing waste while promoting artistic innovation. \nPotion Play (8/4) \nDuring A Rosie Day’s Potion Play workshop\, children will interact with a range of measuring instruments to explore essential science and math concepts. Within a supportive and natural environment\, they will have ample opportunities to immerse themselves in discussions related to gravity\, scientific approaches\, and the enhancement of motor skills. The hands-on activity of Potion Play encourages creative thinking as kids create enchanting formulas and develop innovative storylines. This exercise not only boosts their critical thinking but also sharpens their problem-solving capabilities with success! \nAri\, The Sing-along Guy \nCome sing\, dance\, clap\, stomp\, jump and rock out with Ari The Sing-along Guy! Ari\, his guitar and his trusty yellow sweatband will lead you in songs you know\, and some you don’t\, but all of them are fun\, interactive\, and they really rock!

SUMMARY:Volunteer Landscaping and Cleanup at the Ridgewood Reservoir
DESCRIPTION:Join NYC H2O and the NYC Parks Department as we remove invasive plants and plant native plants at Ridgewood Reservoir! \nThe Ridgewood Reservoir in Highland Park is a 50+ acre natural oasis that straddles the border of Brooklyn and Queens. Built in 1859 to supply the once independent City of Brooklyn with high quality water\, it became obsolete with the addition of new reservoirs in the Catskills in the 1950’s and was decommissioned in the 1980’s. \nSince then\, nature took its course in a perfect case study of ecological succession. A lush and dense forest has grown in its two outside basins while a freshwater pond with waterfowl sits in the middle basin. This fresh water source is critical to migrating birds on the Atlantic Flyway. \nWe will meet in the parking lot on Vermont Place\, Brooklyn\, NY 11207\, across the street from the reservoir.

SUMMARY:Soil: A Primer And Gardening Demonstration (Transmitter Park)
DESCRIPTION:The Friends of WNYC Transmitter Park Present:\nProgramming from the Germination Station \nJoin the Friends of WNYC Transmitter Park for a FREE On-site Gardening Demonstration Program that focuses on Soil Health for successful Gardening. Please come prepared to take notes\, and get your hands in the soil\, as Rosemarie Miner\, founding Principal for Our Temenos\, leads us through the gardens pointing out some of our most common soil issues. \nMeet at Greenpoint Avenue Entrance to the Park \nRegistration required.  \n \nRosemarie Miner  is a social ecologist\, focused on blending the boundaries between human and non-human communities. As an artistic praxis\, she works with nature to create living murals\, as well as functional ecosystems\, designing with spirits of place and for the generations to come. \nDrawing on her B.S. in Ecology and her history as a community organizer\, Rosemarie works tirelessly to build environmental and social resilience by facilitating ecological intimacy and fostering ecological literacy. boroughs. \n  \nThe Germination Station is sponsored by the Friends of WNYC Transmitter Park. Inspiration for this forum is inspired by the Park’s namesake and historic legacy of public radio broadcasting. SUMMARY:Summer Plant ID Walk at the Ridgewood Reservoir
DESCRIPTION:Caitlin Lynch is an urban naturalist\, environmental scientist and plant aficionado based in Brooklyn. She has worked with the NYC Parks Department\, Natural Areas Conservancy\, and NYC H20 on a myriad of restoration\, stewardship\, and ecological surveying projects throughout the city.\nNew York City is home to over 1\,300 native plants and many other naturalized species that provide ecosystem services including specialized habitat\, food\, and a host of medical and other uses. The grounds of Ridgewood Reservoir\, located in Highland Park\, have been maintained and managed to restore many of the native plant species to this area. The late summer/early fall is an ideal time for plant ID in the Northeast with its abundance of late blooming flowers\, seed/fruit formations\, and early leaf color changes.\nDuring this ~1 hour walk\, Caitlin will teach about common and scientific plant names\, how to identify certain species\, their characteristics\, their family relationships\, their uses (ecological and social) and some botanic terms. The tour will include weedy plants\, herbaceous plants\, flowering plants\, trees\, grasses and common invasives. Participants are encouraged to contribute knowledge\, ask questions and store their observations in their plant ID app of choice. The tour route will include the West Causeway and other park areas.\nAppropriate for all ages and all levels. Event is rain or shine but may be rescheduled in the case of storm conditions.
