SUMMARY:Sunrise Yoga (Domino Park)
DESCRIPTION:Greet the sunrise with a yoga flow. \n\n\n\n\nEvery Wednesday morning on the Flex Field\, join an invigorating and centering outdoor yoga session. With the sound of the East River in the background and the Manhattan skyline in view\, this free class offers a serene start to the day. Please bring a mat. \nMackenzie Rawls: With a background deeply rooted in dance\, Mackenzie discovered her passion for teaching early in her career but decided to expand and diversify her offerings. Recognizing the transformative power of yoga\, she delved into its principles and philosophy\, becoming a certified instructor under the direction of Gabrielle Sulk. In and beyond the studio\, Mackenzie has organized workshops\, masterclasses\, and community events to foster creativity\, connection\, and growth within her community. Mackenzie’s impact as an educator extends far beyond the physical aspects of dance and yoga. She believes in nurturing the whole person\, helping her students develop self-confidence\, resilience\, and a sense of joy in their practice. \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Molière's Don Juan (Prospect Park)
DESCRIPTION:Join Molière in the Park for the biting\, ever-relevant tragicomedy DON JUAN.\n\n\n\nDon Juan\, one of French literary legend Molière‘s most controversial works\, explores themes of class\, sex\, religion\, and freedom\, exposing societal hypocrisy along the way. A perfect blend of farce and profound ethical questioning\, Don Juan remains just as thought-provoking\, hilarious\, and relevant as when it was first put on (and promptly censored by France’s religious right) some 400 years ago. \n🎟️ FREE to attend with RSVP \n⏱️ Performance runtime: TBD \nDirected by Lucie Tiberghien \nTranslation by Stephen Wadsworth \n\n\nAbout Molière in the Park: \nMolière in the Park’s (MIP) mission is to promote empathy and unity within the diverse communities in Brooklyn through the arts. MIP offers free opportunities for all to come together in Prospect Park and experience the benefits of theater. MIP’s vision is of a Brooklyn where all communities can benefit equally from access to theater and the Arts.

SUMMARY:Along the Creek: A Guided Exhibition and Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join Newtown Creek Alliance and ISCP for a guided walking tour presented in conjunction with the exhibition Hans Rosenström: Conspirare. \n\n\n\n\nThis approximately 2.5-mile roundtrip route follows the industrial Newtown Creek waterfront to Plank Road\, offering close encounters with one of New York City’s most environmentally complex landscapes\, presented in conjuction Hans Rosenström: Conspirare on view at ISCP. Along the way\, Gus Perry\, Restoration and Marine Projects Coordinator at Newtown Creek Alliance\, will discuss the ecological and industrial histories of the Creek that informed Rosenström’s site-specific installation. The program begins and concludes at ISCP\, where participants can experience the exhibition\, including an immersive sound installation featuring field recordings of ribbed mussels at Newtown Creek’s Plank Road. \nThe event begins at 5:30pm at ISCP with an introduction to the exhibition from curator Melinda Lang\, ISCP’s Director of Exhibitions and Programs. The group will depart from ISCP by 6:00pm for the walking tour and then return back to ISCP by 7:00pm. A short reception with refreshments will follow. \nBe prepared for uneven terrain\, unpaved paths and possible truck traffic. Weather-appropriate clothing\, closed-toe shoes and a water bottle are highly recommended. We ask that all attendees fill out a liability waiver and photo consent form prior to joining\, found here. In case of rain or extreme heat\, the event will be postponed to Thursday\, September 17 at the same time.
