DESCRIPTION:Join us for an afternoon to learn the basics and operation of a sewing machine with our Fiber Artist/Librarian Molloy Rogers. \nYou will walk away with an understanding of: \n\nSewing machine functions\nStitch settings and when to use them\nSewing machine presser foot functions and other accessories\nBobbin creation and operation\nA project sewn by you to take home\n\nSewing machines are provided but you are welcome to bring your own. \nThis class will qualify you for sewing machine use in the branch at our monthly sewing circles. The series will be followed in the spring and summer by Sustainable Sewing: Mending and Repair. \nMolloy Rogers\, a BPL Children’s Librarian is a maker\, artist\, and designer.  She learned to knit and crochet from her grandmother and taught herself to sew\, spin yarn\, dye fiber\, and make felt. In 2012\, she received the Samuel A. Almon scholarship to Penland School of Crafts\, where she studied the applications of natural dyes\, and the Shibori process as applied to weaving. \nRegistration for this event will open on Monday\, March 18th at 10am ~ Registration has reached capacity. Join a member of the Brooklyn Bird Club to learn the basics of birding and search for the dozens of species that visit Prospect Park through all seasons. \nAll levels and ages are welcome. A limited number of binoculars will be available to loan. \nRoute Description: This outing is at a leisurely pace with lots of stops to observe birds. A different route through the park may be taken each week. There may be steps\, slight inclines\, and grass and dirt paths with exposed roots. We will cover approximately 1.5-2 miles.

SUMMARY:Geology Club: Coral (Greenpoint Library)
DESCRIPTION:Ages 6-10 \nRegistration is required. Child’s grown-up must be present. \nThis week in Geology Club we will be covering Coral!  Often mistaken as rocks\, coral are colorful living creatures that can be found all over our shallow warm ocean waters. \n  \nAccessibility \n\nWe are a 5-minute walk off the Nassau G stop. Our building entry\, elevator\, and bathroom are all ADA compliant.\nFor this workshop we will be in Eco Lab 1\, this room is brightly lit from a variety of fixtures and natural lighting.  Temperature varies.\nBeing a public space there is often overlapping noise within the building.  This workshop is geared towards kids which might include varying levels of sound depending on excitement or interest of group.  To reduce sensory input feel free to bring your own ear plugs or ask us if you’d like to borrow a sound filtering device.\nGrown-ups are encouraged to stay in the space to provide additional support to their child.  This may include help with motor skills or emotional support.\n\n\nPhoto credit: Qui Nguyen

SUMMARY:Nature Storytime at Brooklyn Bridge Park
DESCRIPTION:Join for Nature Storytime at the Environmental Education Center! Held at 3:00 PM on the third Thursday of every month (during Open Hours). \nLibrarians from Brooklyn Public Library Adams Street location lead for an exciting and engaging storytime session\, along with singing and rhymes. Each month they select a book to pair with the Education Center’s monthly nature theme. Stick around after to check out all the animals and activities in the room during Open Hours! Storytime is typically about a half hour long. \nWalk-ups only; we do our utmost to accommodate as many walk-ups as space allows. \nThe Environmental Education Center is still encouraging all visitors to wear a mask to help protect others.
