DESCRIPTION:Come learn to sew with us! We provide the machines\, but you might have to bring your own fabric. Cotton is always a good choice. The first Thursday of each month will be the basics of a sewing machines for those that want to learn about the machine itself. The rest of the classes will be a different topic of sewing basics\, such as\, reading pdf sewing patterns and how to put them together\, zippers and buttons\, and pleats and darts. Free Sew is also available to use the machines once you take the introductory class. Limit of 2.5 machines\, but can share machines. First come\, first served.

The 90-minute workshop helps you start or expand your nature journaling practice\, providing you with ecological context\, thematic prompts and time to journal. \nDecember’s theme\, “Preparing for Winter”\, invites you to observe and learn how plants and animals ready themselves for the cold winter. \nThis series is intended for adults\, but all are welcome. This event meets at the Park offices at 334 Furman St (near Pier 5) and will be a blend of indoor/outdoor. This event is first come\, first serve\, with 20 total spots available. DESCRIPTION:These outings will start at The Audubon Center at the Boathouse. \nLeader: A member of the Brooklyn Bird Club \nWhether you’re just starting out or have already joined the birding ranks\, this introductory bird outing is for you. Join a member of the Brooklyn Bird Club to learn the basics of birding and search for the dozens of species that visit Prospect Park through all seasons. \nAll levels and ages are welcome. No registration necessary. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. \nPlease bring binoculars if you have them. A limited number of binoculars will be available to loan. \nRoute Description: This outing is at a leisurely pace with lots of stops to observe birds. A different route through the park may be taken each week. There may be steps\, slight inclines\, and grass and dirt paths with exposed roots. We will cover approximately 1.5-2 miles.
