Join a member of the Brooklyn Bird Club to learn the basics of birding and search for the dozens of species that visit Prospect Park through all seasons. \nAll levels and ages are welcome. A limited number of binoculars will be available to loan. \nRoute Description: This outing is at a leisurely pace with lots of stops to observe birds. SUMMARY:NASA's TechRise Student Challenge: Virtual Student Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:NASA Challenges Students to Fly Earth and Space Experiments \nNASA is calling on middle and high school students across the country to submit experiment ideas for a high-altitude balloon or rocket-powered lander test flight that\, if selected as a winner (60 winning teams!) would fly on a NASA-sponsored flight test next summer! The TechRise Student Challenge\, in its third year\, gives students across the country hands-on insight into the payload design and flight test process\, with the goal of inspiring a deeper understanding of space exploration\, Earth observation\, coding\, electronics\, and the value of test data. \n\n\n\nNASA encourages students and their instructors to submit experiment ideas even if they have no prior experience with these activities. A wide variety of resources are available to support teams through the submission process\, including two upcoming virtual educator workshops (details below) and a virtual field trip for students (Sep. 29). Winning teams\, announced in January\, will receive technical support and mentorship from Future Engineers\, who will help students learn the skills they need to turn their experiment idea into reality. They are in constant flux and the very embodiment of politics in action. DESCRIPTION:Ages:  5-10 \nLet’s learn about our Moon! In this program we will be discussing Earth’s Moon phases and how it affects our planet. Children will be able to apply their knowledge by creating a Moon phase model out of paper. \nMaterials Provided: Paper\, glue\, scissors \n  \nAccessibility \n\nWe are a 5-minute walk off the Nassau G stop. Our building entry\, elevator\, and bathroom are all ADA compliant.\nFor this workshop we will be in Eco Lab 1\, this room is brightly lit from a variety of fixtures and natural lighting.  Temperature varies.\nBeing a public space there is often overlapping noise within the building.  This workshop is geared towards kids which might include varying levels of sound depending on excitement or interest of group.  To reduce sensory input feel free to bring your own ear plugs or ask us if you’d like to borrow a sound filtering device.\nGrown-ups are encouraged to stay in the space to provide additional support to their child.  This may include help with motor skills or emotional support.

DESCRIPTION:Dodge YMCA fitness Zumba classes are so much fun you’ll forget that you’re burning calories. ZUMBA is a fusion of Latin and International music\, utilizing dance themes that create a dynamic\, exciting\, effective fitness program. This class features aerobic training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Sneakers are recommended! Classes run on Mondays at 6:00 PM\, May 1 through September 25 at the Pier 3 Plaza. \n\n\n\nAdvanced registration is required. We are now opening registration by-the-month (opens at the start of the month for all classes that month) here. \nImportant: In addition to registration\, all fitness participants are required to fill out our fitness waiver here. Once completed\, your waiver is good for all Conservancy fitness classes of the 2023 season – you only need to fill it out once! Those under 18 years of age must have a parent/guardian complete the form on their behalf. \nConfirmation emails include a link to this waiver. It must be completed before you can participate in any of our fitness programming; individuals who have not completed a waiver will not be permitted to join. DESCRIPTION:Join our docents on a tour to learn about the history of the Brooklyn waterfront\, Brooklyn Bridge Park’s sustainable design\, and how the Park came to life! Waterfront Walks run every Sunday\, 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM from May 28 through October 29 (weather permitting). \nWear comfortable shoes\, as these tours traverse the beautiful park landscape! All tours meet outside Van Leeuwen at Fulton Ferry Landing (near the Pier 1 entrance) and last about an hour. \nREGISTER HERERSVP’s are encouraged but not required\, drop ins are also welcome! Registered participants will receive an email closer to the date with tour information\, meeting place location\, etc. \nAlso consider our new Sunset Waterfront Walks\, which run 6:30 PM-7:30 PM the first and third Tuesday of each month\, from June-October (weather permitting)
