DESCRIPTION:The Conservancy’s first ever free event in the Hunter’s Point South Park was a 2014 screening of Julie & Julia and since then our CinemaLIC movie series has become a flagship program. These movie nights bring out hundreds of people of all ages to the park. Each year we show five family-friendly movies on the large inflatable screen\, with the NYC skyline as a backdrop. \nHalloween on the Waterfront will be back on October 25 with the original Beetlejuice (1988) to end the season! \nAll movies start at sunset. Bring your blankets early to get a good spot\, as last year several of the movie nights brought out over 1\,000 people.

DESCRIPTION:GreenThumb community gardens are developed\, led\, and cared for by dedicated volunteer gardeners who critically upkeep them as public green spaces. \nEuclid 500 Community Garden is one of East New York’s largest gardens and a reflection of its local diverse community. The garden group enjoys growing a multitude of culturally-appropriate crops\, hosting community events\, and sharing delicious meals with one another. \nPlease join Euclid 500 Community Garden\, NYC Parks GreenThumb\, and Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Brooklyn Urban Gardeners (BUG) program for a hands-on volunteer day! Fall is a great time to harvest veggies\, prepare raised beds for winter\, remove weeds\, and build new trellises. This is a great opportunity to learn how to join a community garden while supporting an essential community space. Beginners are welcome! No prior experience necessary. Please wear comfortable\, weather-appropriate clothing and bring water and snacks. A limited number of binoculars will be available to loan. \nRoute Description: This outing is at a leisurely pace with lots of stops to observe birds. A different route through the park may be taken each week. There may be steps\, slight inclines\, and grass and dirt paths with exposed roots. We will cover approximately 1.5-2 miles.
