SUMMARY:Greencycle Back-to-School Swap
DESCRIPTION:Have lots of CLOTHES\, SHOES & BOOKS taking up space? Bring everything over to the Greencycle Back-to-School Swap on Saturday\, September 16th\, 2023. (NO RAIN DATE). Location: 424 Leonard Street (Bayard entrance\, between Manhattan Ave & Leonard Street). \n  \nJoin Town Square’s efforts to recycle\, reuse and reduce! Drop off your cleaned and useable CLOTHES\, SHOES\, BOOKS\, ELECTRONICS (no TVs)\, HOUSEHOLD ITEMS\, and SMALL FURNITURE (no cribs or mattresses) – and browse the selection. \n  \nSIMPLE RULES:\n• Only cleaned\, gently used and useable items please. No need to bring anything to take items.\n• Out of consideration for others\, we may limit folks to the 1 bag or the number of bags that you’ve brought to donate to the swap.\n• We do not allow taking donated items to resell. Why? Because all remaining items are donated to local homeless shelters for neighbors truly in need. \nSince 2008\, Town Square has been promoting environmental consciousness at the local level through our Greencycle Swaps. We firmly believe that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure! We’re delighted to partner with Clay Family Residence / Home Life Services to keep +1\,500 pounds of perfectly good items out of our landfills for every Greencycle Swap.  We love helping our neighbors while benefiting our environment! \n  \nSuggested donation: $10 a family to help cover costs and support local Scouts Pack 7\, Troop 26 and the very 1st Brooklyn female troop\, Troop 1G. Town Square is a qualified 501(c)(3) not‐for‐profit institution. Your donation will be TAX DEDUCTIBLE to the full extent of the law. A wide variety of resources are available to support teams through the submission process\, including two upcoming virtual educator workshops (details below) and a virtual field trip for students (Sep. 29). Winning teams\, announced in January\, will receive technical support and mentorship from Future Engineers\, who will help students learn the skills they need to turn their experiment idea into reality. They will also receive $1\,500 to build their experiment and a 3D printed flight box in which to build it.\n\n\n\nImportant Dates:\n\n· Aug. 31st: Virtual Educator Workshop #1 RSVP HERE\n· September 14th: Virtual Educator Workshop #2 RSVP HERE\n· September 29th: Virtual student field trip RSVP HERE\n· October 20th: Experiments submissions due\n\n\n\n\nAll TechRise Student Challenge info + submission guidelines can be found here: https://www.futureengineers.org/nasatechrise. SUMMARY:Zumba with Dodge YMCA (BK Bridge Park)
DESCRIPTION:Dodge YMCA fitness Zumba classes are so much fun you’ll forget that you’re burning calories. ZUMBA is a fusion of Latin and International music\, utilizing dance themes that create a dynamic\, exciting\, effective fitness program. This class features aerobic training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Sneakers are recommended! Classes run on Mondays at 6:00 PM\, May 1 through September 25 at the Pier 3 Plaza. \n\n\n\nAdvanced registration is required. We are now opening registration by-the-month (opens at the start of the month for all classes that month) here. \nImportant: In addition to registration\, all fitness participants are required to fill out our fitness waiver here. Once completed\, your waiver is good for all Conservancy fitness classes of the 2023 season – you only need to fill it out once! Those under 18 years of age must have a parent/guardian complete the form on their behalf. \nConfirmation emails include a link to this waiver. It must be completed before you can participate in any of our fitness programming; individuals who have not completed a waiver will not be permitted to join. Individuals may only register for one spot per class; those who book multiple spots for one class will have their excess reservations removed. \nFor event updates and announcements\, subscribe to our email and socials (Twitter\, Facebook\, Instagram). Also check our Alerts & Event Updates page. \nThe Conservancy’s free events and programs are made possible by hundreds of supporters like you. Please consider making a donation to support our work.
