DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to bring back our Autumn Evenings and give the community Newtown Native Nursery hours to amplify your greenspace in the Fall! \n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nCome join NCA every Friday from September 5 to October 17 to see the green roofs at Kingsland Wildflowers and explore (and purchase) plants from our Native Plant Nursery. \nThe event’s allow the public to learn about the green roofs and native plants\, as well as experiencing the Newtown Creek during the golden hour from our scenic wildflower meadows. This is a family friendly event\, kindly keep in mind that we use our green roofs as an educational resource\, we prefer that furry friends stay at home. NCA staff will be on hand to answer questions about the space\, the ecological benefits of green roofs\, and talk about our current activities around Newtown Creek! \nThe event is free and open to all. The main green roofs can be accessed via elevator\, however the nursery area is not ADA accessible (small staircase). \nCheck out the various native plants that we have been growing on site; purchases can also be made online in advance!

DESCRIPTION:Green Team takes place twice a month\, from April-October.   \nGreen Team volunteers support essential horticultural care in Brooklyn Bridge Park\, completing tasks such as weeding\, planting and mulching. This is a great opportunity to learn about gardening\, enjoy nature\, and make a tangible difference in the Park with a group of other volunteers. \nVolunteers of all ages are welcome (under 16’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian) and no volunteer orientation is required. No gardening experience is necessary; we provide all the instructions and tools needed for a rewarding experience! \nAdvance registration is required and spaces are limited. Registration opens the month prior. This is a family friendly event\, kindly keep in mind that we use our green roofs as an educational resource\, we prefer that furry friends stay at home. NCA staff will be on hand to answer questions about the space\, the ecological benefits of green roofs\, and talk about our current activities around Newtown Creek! \nThe event is free and open to all. The main green roofs can be accessed via elevator\, however the nursery area is not ADA accessible (small staircase). \nCheck out the various native plants that we have been growing on site; purchases can also be made online in advance!

SUMMARY:Community Work Day at the Wyckoff Urban Farm
DESCRIPTION:Stop by the Wyckoff Urban Farm on the third Saturday of the month to learn about what we’re growing\, get to know our farmers\, and get your hands dirty with farm projects! \nDrop by anytime between 12-3PM to volunteer alongside our farm staff to care for our space and participate in special work projects. \nTickets are not required to attend\, but it’s always helpful to RSVP so we can plan projects accordingly. \nTHINGS TO KNOW: \n\nThis is an all ages event. We welcome individuals and families but children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of their stay. Check out what’s happening during Farmhouse Family Day while you’re here!\nDress for the mess! Make sure to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting messy in and wear close toed shoes to protect your feet.\nCome Prepared: We will provide all the tools and protective gear for your projects but coming prepared with a hat\, long sleeved shirt\, sunscreen\, and bug spray is always a good idea.\nFacilities: Water fountain and public restrooms are available on-site. We recommend bringing snacks and a refillable water bottle.\nWeather: Community Work Days are rain or shine. If extreme weather is expected\, we will update this page and contact those on the RSVP list to cancel.\nVolunteer Groups: This event is intended for individuals\, families\, and small groups of 5 or fewer participants. Community organizations and corporate volunteer groups are welcome to make advance reservations by emailing info@wyckoffmuseum.org to discuss scheduling options and availability.

SUMMARY:Coastal Cleanup (Brooklyn Bridge Park)
DESCRIPTION:Coastal Cleanup Volunteers help keep our shorelines clean by removing debris that washes into the park’s marshes and beaches with the tides. Volunteers also document the types of trash collected—data that is shared with the Ocean Conservancy to support global efforts in understanding and combating plastic pollution. \nVolunteers of all ages are welcome; under 16’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No volunteer orientation or experience is required\, but note that this activity may involve climbing up and down rocks. \nAdvance registration is required and spaces are limited. \nTo register: \n\nNew volunteers\, please complete this form\nRegistered volunteers\, please log-in to your volunteer profile to schedule yourself\n\nIf you’re signing up as a family\, please email volunteer@brooklynbridgepark.org \nFull details\, including location of the activity\, will be emailed to registered volunteers a few days prior to the event. \nNote: If you’re not seeing any dates available when trying to sign up for a Coastal Cleanup opportunity\, it’s because either all the spots have been filled or the event has not yet opened for sign-ups.
