DESCRIPTION:Stop by the Wyckoff Urban Farm on the third Saturday of the month to learn about what we’re growing\, get to know our farmers\, and get your hands dirty with farm projects! \nDrop by anytime between 12-3PM to volunteer alongside our farm staff to care for our space and participate in special work projects. \nTickets are not required to attend\, but it’s always helpful to RSVP so we can plan projects accordingly. \nTHINGS TO KNOW: \n\nThis is an all ages event. We welcome individuals and families but children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of their stay. Check out what’s happening during Farmhouse Family Day while you’re here!\nDress for the mess! Make sure to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting messy in and wear close toed shoes to protect your feet.\nCome Prepared: We will provide all the tools and protective gear for your projects but coming prepared with a hat\, long sleeved shirt\, sunscreen\, and bug spray is always a good idea.\nFacilities: Water fountain and public restrooms are available on-site. We recommend bringing snacks and a refillable water bottle.\nWeather: Community Work Days are rain or shine. If extreme weather is expected\, we will update this page and contact those on the RSVP list to cancel.\nVolunteer Groups: This event is intended for individuals\, families\, and small groups of 5 or fewer participants. DESCRIPTION:Green Team takes place twice a month\, from April-October.   \nGreen Team volunteers support essential horticultural care in Brooklyn Bridge Park\, completing tasks such as weeding\, planting and mulching. This is a great opportunity to learn about gardening\, enjoy nature\, and make a tangible difference in the Park with a group of other volunteers. \nVolunteers of all ages are welcome (under 16’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian) and no volunteer orientation is required. No gardening experience is necessary; we provide all the instructions and tools needed for a rewarding experience! \nAdvance registration is required and spaces are limited. Registration opens the month prior. SUMMARY:Volunteer Workday: Fred McLeod Community Garden
DESCRIPTION:GreenThumb community gardens are developed\, led\, and cared for by dedicated volunteer gardeners who critically upkeep them as public green spaces. \nFred McLeod Community Garden\, FKA Marcus Garvey Tenants Association Garden\, is a thriving community garden in Brownsville with 30 raised beds\, multiple styles of trellises for vertical growing\, a greenhouse\, 3-bin compost\, two apple trees\, and more than 10 varieties of mint. They regularly host youth groups\, special needs schools\, and workshops\, and have received multiple City Parks Foundation grants to improve access and expand community programs. \nJoin GreenThumb and Fred McLeod Community Garden for a public workday to help prepare pathways\, weed\, prune\, paint\, organize tools\, and cover bare soil. Learn about urban gardening while supporting a vibrant\, inclusive community space! Please wear comfortable\, weather-appropriate clothing and bring water and snacks. DESCRIPTION:Coastal Cleanup Volunteers help keep our shorelines clean by removing debris that washes into the park’s marshes and beaches with the tides. Volunteers also document the types of trash collected—data that is shared with the Ocean Conservancy to support global efforts in understanding and combating plastic pollution. \nVolunteers of all ages are welcome; under 16’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
