DESCRIPTION:GreenThumb community gardens are developed\, led\, and cared for by dedicated volunteers who critically upkeep community gardens as public green spaces. Garden of Life is a serene\, green oasis in Bed-Stuy\, Brooklyn cared for by a few long-standing community members. The garden features 16 food-producing plots\, wheelchair-accessible pathways\, and dedicated gathering spaces. \nDuring this volunteer day\, participants will engage in meaningful\, hands-on projects\, such as building two (2) types of plant-supporting trellises and adding soil to vegetable plots. This is a great opportunity for those interested in getting involved with a community garden! Bring water\, snacks\, and comfortable\, weather-appropriate clothing. Join a member of the Brooklyn Bird Club to learn the basics of birding and search for the dozens of species that visit Prospect Park through all seasons. \nAll levels and ages are welcome. No registration necessary. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. \nPlease bring binoculars if you have them. A limited number of binoculars will be available to loan. \nRoute Description: This outing is at a leisurely pace with lots of stops to observe birds. A different route through the park may be taken each week. There may be steps\, slight inclines\, and grass and dirt paths with exposed roots. We will cover approximately 1.5-2 miles.

Are wasps pests or essential helpers? How do bees sustain our food supply? And are ladybugs truly nature’s best pesticide?
