DESCRIPTION:Join educators from Brooklyn Bridge Park in carving stamps and printing with them on a tote bag\, as part of our Art Under the Bridge series. Participants will create a design\, learn how to transfer it to the stamp material\, safely use lino cutters\, and then print using fabric ink. \nThis is a fun art form that you can then easily do at home. All materials will be provided\, but you can also bring your own item to print on as you please. Just make sure that whatever you bring is light-colored as we will be printing with black ink. \nNo previous experience necessary. This workshop is best suited for ages 13 and up. We will be using sharp cutting tools and all participants will need to sign a legal waiver when they arrive. The event is first-come\, first-serve with 25 spots available. Advanced registration is encouraged but not required.

DESCRIPTION:Lunar New Year Parade in Brooklyn Sunset Park\nAs Lunar New Year approaches\, the Brooklyn Chinese-American Association announced its annual celebration will be held on Sunday\, Feb. 22. \nThis year marks the Year of the Horse. \nThe celebration will begin at 11 a.m. on a grandstand set up on Eighth Avenue and 52nd Street where speeches by community leaders and elected officials\, performances and activities will be featured. \nFestivities include a firecrackers display\, traditional lion dance\, a Kung-Fu demonstration\, day care and public-school performances as well as other cultural activities. \nAt 1 p.m.\, the Head Lion\, VIP guests and marching teams will lead the parade along the Eighth Avenue commercial strip. The parade will conclude at 61st Street\, and the lions will dance in front of each store to bring good luck and fortune to the community at 2:30 p.m.

Built in 1859 to supply the once independent City of Brooklyn with high quality water\, it became obsolete with the addition of new reservoirs in the Catskills in the 1950’s and was decommissioned in the 1980’s. \nSince then\, nature took its course in a perfect case study of ecological succession. A lush and dense forest has grown in its two outside basins while a freshwater pond with waterfowl sits in the middle basin. This fresh water source is critical to migrating birds on the Atlantic Flyway. \nWe will meet in the parking lot on Vermont Place\, Brooklyn\, NY 11207\, across the street from the reservoir. \n\n\n

This is a private application by Khalifah Residences LLC for a Zoning Map Amendment from R6A/C2-4 to R7X/C2-4 and Zoning Text Amendment to designate an MIH area in Appendix F in order to facilitate a new 12-story\, 75\,602 square foot mixed-use development with 144 units\, 13\,412 sf of community facility space\, and 4\,823 sf of commercial\, at 1166 Bedford Ave in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn\, Community District 3. \n* \n3) Monitor Point. \nA LSGD\, ZM\, ZR\, a Chair Cert\, and a City Map Amendment (see 2025K0287)\, to facilitate the development of a new 33\,000 gsf Museum and educational facility\, and two additional new buildings with approximately 877\,88 gsf of residential space with approximately 1\,150 dwelling units (300 income restricted) approx. 25\,700 sf of local retail space\, and approx. 37\,000 gsf of below grade parking\, and approx. 45\,000 sf of new open space at 40 Quay Street\, CD1\, Brooklyn. \n* \nMonitor Point – 56 Quay Demapping (to be heard concurrently with Monitor Point)\nA City Map Amendment by GO Quay LLC and Greenpoint Monitor Museum to remove a Park designation on BK Block 2590\, Lot 25\, which is privately owned by the Greenpoint Monitor Museum (not parkland owned by the City)\, in order to facilitate the development of a new 33\,000 sf museum and educational facility\, and publicly-accessible waterfront open space. The project is located in Greenpoint\, CD 1\, Brooklyn. This project is related to Project ID 2024K0358\, which details the other land use actions.
