Prior to this\, they spent three years at the Office of the NYC Public Advocate\, where they led climate organizing for the office. They come to public service after nearly a decade in both climate advocacy and the private renewables industry where they lead customer engagement and business development projects across the country for companies like NRG and Alphabet.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a solar art class outside at Transmitter Park. \nHave you ever seen a blue photograph? If you lived in the 1800s you would have. By placing objects on special paper and exposing the paper to sunlight\, early photographers created blue images\, called cyanotypes or sun prints. Join us together with artist and photographer Amy Williams for an outdoor printmaking workshop using native foliage. \n\nNo experience necessary\nYou will take home a frameable print\nAll supplies will be provided\nAges 12+\n\nMeet at the Greenpoint entrance at the Friends’ table. \n*Registration required. \nAmy Williams is a photographer and mixed media artist living and working in Greenpoint\, Brooklyn. Trained in traditional photographic methods\, Williams continues to embrace these techniques despite the digital revolution of the photography world. Her photographs have been featured in the French art magazine Frog\, as well as the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. Williams has exhibited extensively at 440 Gallery in Brooklyn and has been included in two group shows at Galerie de Multiples in Paris\, France. DESCRIPTION:Join for our new Core and Flexibility Training class with Dodge YMCA to improve strength\, tone\, and flexibility. The goal of this class is to grow your confidence\, improve your connection with your body\, and push past your perceived limits. The class is a combination of core and flexibility exercises designed to build a strong foundation of movement capacity. Classes run on Sundays\, May 7-September 24\, 10:00 AM-11:00 AM at the Pier 6 Lawn. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring their own mats; an extremely limited number will be available to borrow from Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy staff. \nAdvanced registration is required. We are now opening registration by-the-month (opens at the start of the month for all classes that month) here. \nImportant: In addition to registration\, all fitness participants are required to fill out our fitness waiver here. Once completed\, your waiver is good for all Conservancy fitness classes of the 2023 season – you only need to fill it out once! DESCRIPTION:North Brooklyn Neighbors is teaming up with North Brooklyn Mutual Aid for a fun-filled event. \nWe will be using our new XRF machine to offer free soil testing. Bring a sample of your soil in a clear\, plastic sandwich bag with about 2 cups of soil. We will use our machine to test the heavy metal (i.e. lead) content of your soil and results will be available immediately. Information on safely dealing with high levels of lead in soil will be available in English\, Polish\, and Spanish. \nStop by to collect up to three 40-lb bag of compost made from NYC food scraps and yard waste. DESCRIPTION:Glide along the water this summer and fall!\nPresented in partnership with Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse\, free kayaking is offered throughout the summer on Wednesday and Thursday evenings\, and Saturday afternoons through September. All levels are welcome including first-time kayakers – life vests and all equipment provided\, as well as instruction. Children under 18 must have an adult guardian present. \n  \nWednesdays\, 5:00 PM-7:00 PM \nThursdays\, 5:00 PM-7:00 PM \nSaturdays\, 10:00 AM-3:00 PM \nSundays\, 12:00 PM-2:30 PM (family kayaking) \n  \nAdvanced registration required\, providing 20 minute timed slots. Free registration opens 2 weeks ahead of each date through the Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse website. Check back daily for more openings. \nHave your own boat? Launch your human-powered boats from the Pier 4 Beach.

SUMMARY:Zumba with Dodge YMCA (BK Bridge Park)
DESCRIPTION:Dodge YMCA fitness Zumba classes are so much fun you’ll forget that you’re burning calories. ZUMBA is a fusion of Latin and International music\, utilizing dance themes that create a dynamic\, exciting\, effective fitness program. This class features aerobic training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Sneakers are recommended! Classes run on Mondays at 6:00 PM\, May 1 through September 25 at the Pier 3 Plaza. \n\n\n\nAdvanced registration is required. We are now opening registration by-the-month (opens at the start of the month for all classes that month) here. \nImportant: In addition to registration\, all fitness participants are required to fill out our fitness waiver here. Once completed\, your waiver is good for all Conservancy fitness classes of the 2023 season – you only need to fill it out once! Those under 18 years of age must have a parent/guardian complete the form on their behalf. \nConfirmation emails include a link to this waiver. It must be completed before you can participate in any of our fitness programming; individuals who have not completed a waiver will not be permitted to join.
