DESCRIPTION:These outings will start at The Audubon Center at the Boathouse. \nLeader: A member of the Brooklyn Bird Club \nWhether you’re just starting out or have already joined the birding ranks\, this introductory bird outing is for you. Join a member of the Brooklyn Bird Club to learn the basics of birding and search for the dozens of species that visit Prospect Park through all seasons. \nAll levels and ages are welcome. No registration necessary. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. \nPlease bring binoculars if you have them. A limited number of binoculars will be available to loan. \nRoute Description: This outing is at a leisurely pace with lots of stops to observe birds. A different route through the park may be taken each week. There may be steps\, slight inclines\, and grass and dirt paths with exposed roots. We will cover approximately 1.5-2 miles.

DESCRIPTION:Please join us along with CM Mercedes Narcisse’s office for a volunteer cleanup at Canarsie Park in Brooklyn! \nCanarsie Park connects to Canarsie Pier and overlooks Paerdegat Basin. Before the 1920s\, Paerdegat Basin was Paerdegat Creek\, a freshwater tidal creek connecting to Jamaica Bay. Canarsie Park is known for its recreation facilities\, but it is also home to a surprising number of diverse wildlife spanning multiple acquatic ecosystems due to Canarsie’s close proximity to the seashore and its lesser known wetland hiking trails. \nThe cleanup will run from 10am to 12:00pm. DESCRIPTION:Join for Nature Storytime at Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy’s Environmental Education Center (99 Plymouth Street)! Held at 3:00pm on the third Thursday of every month (during Open Hours). Librarians from Brooklyn Public Library Adams Street location lead for an exciting and engaging storytime session\, along with singing and rhymes. Each month they select a book to pair with the Education Center’s monthly nature theme. After\, stay to check out all the animals and activities in the room – open hours on Thursdays are currently 3:00-5:00pm! Storytime is typically about a half hour long. Walk-ups only; we do our utmost to accommodate as many walk-ups as space allows. The Environmental Education Center is still encouraging all visitors to wear a mask to help protect others.

DESCRIPTION:Ages:  5-10 \nRegistration will open on October 09 2023 8:00 am \nPlanetary rings and moons aren’t just fancy celestial accessories but active\, dynamic structures that undergo daily temperature shifts\, seasons\, and even give birth to moons! This week we’ll be learning about the planets in our solar system that have their own rings and satellites. \nMaterials Provided: Paper\, glue\, scissors\, recycled materials\, cardboard\, markers \n  \nAccessibility \n\nWe are a 5-minute walk off the Nassau G stop. Our building entry\, elevator\, and bathroom are all ADA compliant.\nFor this workshop we will be in Eco Lab 1\, this room is brightly lit from a variety of fixtures and natural lighting.  Temperature varies.\nBeing a public space there is often overlapping noise within the building.  This workshop is geared towards kids which might include varying levels of sound depending on excitement or interest of group.  To reduce sensory input feel free to bring your own ear plugs or ask us if you’d like to borrow a sound filtering device.\nGrown-ups are encouraged to stay in the space to provide additional support to their child.  This may include help with motor skills or emotional support.

Join a member of the Brooklyn Bird Club to learn the basics of birding and search for the dozens of species that visit Prospect Park through all seasons. \nAll levels and ages are welcome. No registration necessary. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. \nPlease bring binoculars if you have them. A limited number of binoculars will be available to loan. \nRoute Description: This outing is at a leisurely pace with lots of stops to observe birds. A different route through the park may be taken each week. There may be steps\, slight inclines\, and grass and dirt paths with exposed roots. We will cover approximately 1.5-2 miles.

As always\, we’ll be inviting our friends and extended farmily to join us at our market as vendors AND on the farm hosting a bunch of activities! \nENTRY IS FREE FOR ALL! WE’LL HAVE PUMPKINS & CIDER & MORE! \n\nFamily Farm Day Activities: City Growers will have fun + educational programming for the whole family to enjoy! \nFarm Tours: Guided farm tours at 11:00 AM \, 12:30 PM\, and  2:00PM. Click your preferred time to register. \nMarket Table: Check out our end of season farm stand. We’ll be slingin’ veg\, tees and hot sauce! \nVendors: Community vendors at market all day! \nCompost Drop-off Site: Organic Matter only! \n\nCommunity Field Day: Weeding\, planting and bed prep are all on the farmers to-do list! SUMMARY:Waterfront Walks (Brooklyn Bridge Park)
DESCRIPTION:Join our docents on a tour to learn about the history of the Brooklyn waterfront\, Brooklyn Bridge Park’s sustainable design\, and how the Park came to life! Waterfront Walks run every Sunday\, 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM from May 28 through October 29 (weather permitting). \nWear comfortable shoes\, as these tours traverse the beautiful park landscape! All tours meet outside Van Leeuwen at Fulton Ferry Landing (near the Pier 1 entrance) and last about an hour. \nREGISTER HERERSVP’s are encouraged but not required\, drop ins are also welcome! Registered participants will receive an email closer to the date with tour information\, meeting place location\, etc. \nAlso consider our new Sunset Waterfront Walks\, which run 6:30 PM-7:30 PM the first and third Tuesday of each month\, from June-October (weather permitting)

SUMMARY:Volunteer Cleanup and Hike (Marine Park)
DESCRIPTION:Marine Park is a part of the Jamaica Bay\, an estuary that is home to hundreds of animals from muskrats to snowy owls. During hurricanes\, the marsh offers us protection as well. The healthier the marsh\, the less our homes and neighborhoods will suffer from rising tides. Join the Rangers for a hike through this waterfront park.
