DESCRIPTION:Join our teaching artist\, Kwok Kay Choey\, for a nine week series of exercise and movement. Meeting every Friday from May 5th through June 30th. Participants will learn Simplified Tai Chi 24-movement\, “Eight Pieces of Brocade” a qigong exercise\, and Tai Chi for Arthritis and for Fall Prevention. \nMr. Choey will also teach about the history\, art\, and culture behind these Tai Chi movements that date back thousands of years. Participants will form relationships with class members through activities. The series will end on June 30th with a celebration and performance for family and friends. \n\n\nKwok Kay Choey has practiced Tai Chi/Qigong for more than 50 years. He often participates in tai chi seminars in Asia. He has instructor certification in Tai Chi for Arthritis & for Fall Prevention from the Dr. Paul Lam Tai Chi for Health Institute. He practices the Yang style\, tracing tai chi’s martial arts origins while emphasizing its health benefits. He has taught at the Queensborough Community College\, Brooklyn Botanic Garden\, Brooklyn Public Library\, Teamsters Local 237 Retirees\, and senior centers\, etc. \nTai Chi (Supreme Ultimate) is a form of Chinese martial arts. It relaxes the mind and body\, and increases the chi (internal energy).
